First Trip to Fla in 10 days!!

Hey Yall, the Roo makes her maiden voyage next week as we head to Florida for 9 days for the kid's spring break...who are we kidding..I am going to love it too.

I had a terrible fall when it comes to cameras. I left my digital SLR in my truck, unlocked , at the trailhead at Looking Glass Rock in the Pisgah National Forest here and somebody needed my camera more than I did.

I then dropped my point and shoot in the snow and lost it for a week burried in the snow, found it, dried it out and it worked for about 2 months. It crapped out. So I am somewhat cameraless. I got my droid and I will find my old point and shoot and see if the batteries take a charge...it is a Sony and it uses their lithium ion battery.

So I will try to take a few pics of the Roo down there in Fla at Blue Spring SP as well as here in at home. I am now in camera shopping mode....

None the less..looking forward to a week or so in Fla doing some boating on the mighty St.Johns River and fishing offshore..here fishy fishy and some mountain biking in the Ocala National Forest!

Nice.

Enjoy her maiden voyage.

Definitely post some pics. We're also snowed in and need some reminder what Spring is really like.

Gary...tell me about it I really want the Nikon D7000...my old stuff was all Minolta..I have all this Minolta stuff it will fit the Sony Alpha, but the new Alpha's are not prosumer level cameras. I use my cameras for architectural photography of my vacation rentals and for my chocolate store's website. I need a solid digital SLR...when business picks up in the tourist season here, a new camera is on the way. I will get pics even if I have to use my daughter's basic point and shoot digital...

3 inches of snow..i love snow being a native Floridian having not had it for 38 years, but I got say after this winter and last in the Smokies, I love to see it snow and I love to see it go ....

Enjoy your trip...lots of Sunshine here in central Florida waiting for you ! If you and your family bike ride, there is a great path straight across the street from the parks entrance / exit.

Are you from the Orange city area ???

Hey Bob,
send me a PM of your possible Itinerary - I am about 2.5 hours from Ocala National Forest besides my parents live in Salt Springs (North East corner of the Ocala National Forest)
Maybe one of the weekends you are camping - me and my daughter could camp in the same campground
thats if you are intrested

Steel,
I grew up in Altamonte Springs and moved from Orange City about 6 years ago. My folks are in their upper 70s and Tonya's are in their 80s. Staying with grandparents can be trying and adding the stress of a special needs kid to the mix, it is better we not stay with our parents anymore. Camping works quite well..my kids love it, the grandparents get their fill and everyone is happy....

Matt, we will be a Blue Spring State Park the entire time...I do miss camping at Clearwater Lake, Alexander Springs and Juniper Springs...the Ocala National Forest holds so many memories for me as a kid. It is the place I first backpacked at 8 years old...hiked from Dorr Lake to Alexander Springs to Juniper Springs over 3 days on the Florida National Scenic Trail, it is the place we spent Easter Vacation as it was called in the good ole days, it was the place where my wife and I first camped in a tent at Juniper Springs and it was the place we took kids our kids on quick weekend away camping trips... We come in next Saturday and go home to NC the following Saturday...if you can get a site..come on up...we will take you guys out on the boat too...

I will see if I can make a reservation for next saturday since I am not on call next weekend
Thanks for the offer on the boat - we will play that by ear cause not sure if there would be enough time for that - I sure do miss mine but being a single dad with a 4 year old the camper made more sense for me - eventually I will get another boat but not any time soon.

I had a 79 Regal Regency 21 that I used for many years before the transom became rotted so I gutted everything and took the hull to the dump and sold the trailer - gotta see my back porch - I got tons of parts LOL
