I should add that Hillsborough River State Park is a very nice campground. The surroundings are great, with the palms, and dense forest, nice spacious camp sites with lots of shade. Got to see a couple of gators (probably not a big deal to the people that live in gator country, but I enjoyed it), also got to see my first wild armadillo, who visited the woods behind our site nightly. A nice river with canoe rentals, and a huge pool to cool off in, and lots of hiking trails.

Hi all. We live in Jacksonville, and LOVE Hanna Park! If you research your site ahead of time with a campground map, you will find lots of large sites, AND every site has electric and sewer hookups. It is very shady and has paved roads throughout. 300 campsites, as well. WolfWhistle also mentioned trying out Little Talbot Island.....I have a 30 foot camper, and I wouldn't advise going in there with anything more than 20 feet or so. They have a lot of low branches from the scrub oaks, and there is only 7 sites for a 30 foot camper MAX. Great place to tent or a pop up is good there. Ocean is across A1A from the campground- a very nice beach. They need to build another campground on Big Talbot Island for larger campers, in my opinion. Randy

We were at Topsail Hill Preserve in Santa Rosa Beach which is just outside of Destin from June 15th thru the 22nd. Had a few showers but hey, it's Florida. You got to expect them. Lots of breezes on the beach and not too hot at the camper. We had a great time and are looking forward to next year. Hoping we can get some family to pull their popups down with us.

I've lived in central Florida my whole life. Summer i my favorite season. Well, any season is as long as I'm here. but I especially love camping in the summer. Probably because i love to swim. We just make sure to get a waterfront lot or find a campground with water activities. We spend the hottest part of the day cooling off that way. Our favorites are rainbow springs state park(my husband appreciates the full hookup there), ft desoto, and manatee hammock(they have nice shade, full hookup, and a pool). I appreciate some of the other recommendations! Can't wait to check them out!
