Maxxair roof vent covers?

I am picking up soon a new Shamrock 19 (same as Roo 19) and I'd like to install some Maxxair II roof vent covers.

How many do I need ?

I know there is a different model for the Fan-Tastic vent that I have in the can.

I think there is only 1 around the table area...

I have a Roo 19SS and I have only one Maxxair roof vent, and It works well.. You have a vent in the bathroom and one in the main part of the trailer...The one I have is in the main part of the trailer its good enough for me. I think the only thing that they are used for is so you can leave it open going down the road or if it rains....

i had two vent covers installed on my 23SS. one over the vent in the living area and the other over the powered fan in the bathroom.

the maxxair II will work with the fantastic fan but has to be installed with 1/2"X 6 sheet metal screws into the frame so as not to interfere with any wiring. just installed one this week.

Honestly, pretty much any of the vent covers will work fine. Don't splurge too much on the expensive ones made for "more airflow." In my experience, there really isn't that much of a difference. Also, when the vent is operated with the door closed (like mine always is), the door restricts more air flow than the cover will.

I purchased an Aero-Flo version of the vent cover (like this one http://www.pplmotorhomes.com/parts/r...vent-cover.htm) after talking to my RV parts guy. The vent door doesn't stand all the way up like it used to, but the amount that is open is more then enough to get some good air flow going through the camper when the fantastic-fan is turned on. I also liked the fact that 2 screws later, I can still pop the lid off and clean out anything that might have been trapped inside of it without having to remove it from its mounts. Took me about 10 minutes to install. I don't have the second fan over the dining area, just the one in the bathroom area and last summer, we turned the fan on low at night to get some good air flow through the front bunk windows...it was more then enough. I'd like to add-- after 2 years and 2 maxxair vents I highly suggest
spending the extra bucks and getting the new versions that are
hinged.
You can open them and clean your vent lids.
After 2 years ours are grungy and have some bugs and lots of
tree pollen and dust on them.
The only way to clean them is to remove the screws and the
maxx vent covers.
Not a huge chore but one that would have been easier if I'd gotten
the hinged versions!

I gotta agree. I have two maxair 1's and 1 maxair 2. The extra couple bucks for the hinged one is worth it. It also has more vent area!

Personal preference, but I use the maxair 2 over my fantastic fan. You have to have enough windows open to allow the fan to work as designed. I find that I get all the breeze ( and noise ) I want with the fan on "2". It will suck enough air that the bathroom door will pull tight (but not shut itself) when the fan is on and the door is near closed.

I guess if you want to get technical you can figure out the vent area for the maxair 2 vs. the fan size also. Remember that the cover will not open all the way (to my knowledge) with either setup and take that into account also

So, to sum it up without a lot of math, I am quite happy with my maxair 2 covering my fantastic fan. Check out the maxair website and see what they say. Don't forget the price difference!

Do put down your stabilizer jacks!!
It makes a huge difference in the "shake factor" while working
up there.
