I’m looking for a place in SC that we can kayak right from our site and that looks like it’s perfect for that.

Sorry, I should have provided more details. Cheraw State Park is pretty nice. It's nice for a long weekend. We didn't explore the town but spent the weekend at the park.
The CG is across the lake from the ranger station and is only 16 spots. Juniper Lake is pretty from where we were at and you can hear the spillway at all hours. It's nice white noise as you can occasionally hear the jake brakes on the semi's on Highway 1 or 52 nearby. The single bathhouse is clean and heated. The lake is nice for kayaks and canoeing. They have some paddle in camp spots about a mile away from the drive in CG. The lake has some areas where you can paddle among the cypress trees.
We were on spot #9 but spots 7, 8, 11, 12, 15, 16 are all waterfront with varying levels of ability to launch a kayak. Spot #8 has the flattest entry area.
We already booked for next year if that tells you something about how much we liked it. 2hrs/100mi from Raleigh helps make it a winner. A lake view from your campfire is a winner and the sunsets were awesome.
