I keep it off when not in use. My fridge gets cold quickly (few hours) but the guys where I keep it will plug it in to power the day before a trip.

Great choice for "Living within my means" and camping for one...

Off usually in our old camper, same for the current camper so far, usually turn on the weekend before a trip and let it get cold, we usually don't travel with it on either. I usually freeze all the meats, stick them in the fridge along with everything else and let it thaw on the way.

Mine is on all summer. I'm not going to refill it every time we go. Set refrigerator on auto, leave gas bottle open just incase we have a thunderstorm and power would go out. Never a problem in 15 years .
