Refrigerator....on or off?

Just a question, do most people leave their refrigerators on when not using the camper? We camp all summer and I just leave the fridge on even when parked for a few weeks and hooked up to shore power. Does this effect the longevity of the fridge?

We used to leave our refer on all season. Just make sure that your rig is level whenever it is parked.

x2 on level. I had a 1999 Terry with a 6 cu ft. Dometic. Always left it on except to defrost. It finally conked out after 14 years but that was most likely my fault as I got water down the chimney

Thanks for the responses... always keep my Roo 19 level. One last trip left before she gets put away for the winter, hard to believe it was 74 degrees in NE Wisconsin today!

We always turn it on the day before we leave.
See nothing positive about leaving it on all the time, unless you use it as a second home fridge.
Many don't have the benefit of parking their RV at home, so they don't have the choice.

Regarding the question "do most people leave their refrigerators on when not using the camper?": No for us. When we are not using ours, it is off. Like bikendan says,"We always turn it on the day before we leave."
