How do you access that area?
Maybe you could build a long pull out drawer.

I saw that also. The divider is there just to keep stuff from getting out of reach. It is nice space but hard to get to. Might be able to add access through the bathroom wall.

We store our outdoor rug there. Long enough and out of the way.

Hidden spaces on a Roo

The space you refer to is a common issue and I found that it was good for a couple of things, but you need to do them in the right order ( learn from my mistakes)
1. remove the panel
2. you can now route a wire up from the bathroom wall to add a light in the rear bed area. ( I found factory style led lights on Amazon )
3. cut a short piece of wood to support both the end of the current shelf bottom and the new piece your going to install so that the entire shelf is at the same level.
4. glue this piece in place so that it's half under the current shelf and half out.
5. cut a piece of paneling to go from the current end to the wall and glue it down with some temporary weights to hold it in place.

Now mine is a Roo 17 so maybe the factory has a floor in your shelf but mine didn't. I found it a great place for the cool weather blankets in plastic bags. The bags keep them fresh and allow you to retrieve them by grabbing the end or strap. I looked into cutting into the bathroom wall but it didn't seem worth it to me.

Other spaces that you can free up are the front pass though and furnace area . Keep in mind that anything I suggest my not work in your unit since things change with both models and model years. At any rate in my unit I removed the useless water filter and moved the water pump to behind the water heater. This gave me a completely free pass through. In the furnace area I took out the flexible duct that the factory had run right through the middle of the rear dinette bench and moved it to the front edge of the space. I then put a factory style door on it and now have great bin storage space.
One more trick is to remove all of the back panels that are covering wiring and purchase some plastic downspout to enclose the wire, pipes, etc. You simply cut it to length and slit the back to slip it in place.
Hope some of this helps, happy camping.

I did a write up on my Surveyor last winter. I opened up the space for additional towel storage. Click image for larger version

I really like this. For us the shower takes up half the bathroom wall on the 233S, but I could see opening up above the toilet. A great use of the space!

Secret storage on 233s

I have the same bathroom in the 183. I rigged a tray style basket to sit on the top of the medicine cabinet, to hold rolled up fresh towels. My plan was to use the wall space above the toilet for hanging hooks for damp towels. I already have an over the door hook for clothes etc. There is no storage and it is like operating in a shoebox. I really like the rug idea. I was sewing fabric baskets for the overhead storage areas, maybe I’ll make a long one with a handle for that spot.

I have the Shamrock version of the Roo 183

there is outside storage available on the door side in the rear, but it is inaccessible because the rear opening is on the opposite side.

I wrote up this MOD to add a second baggage door access from the outside that opens up this storage space.

Wow I forgot about that spot! We are so tight for storage in the 183. While I won’t put in a second baggage door, I’m going to se if I can put something else in there.
