Where does one find these systems or is it a home brew kind of thing?

you can buy them at camping world or straight from the manufacture

just do a search on youtube for camper stabilizer and you will see some videos on how some of them work.

This is all we use and even with my SIL who weighs almost 300 stomping around the trailer does not move around. Keeping the stabs only partially extended helps tremendously. I made the blocks out of some old 2x6's I had laying around and deck screws also have a second one to put under the tongue jack when it is real unlevel. As well as the X-Chocks of course.
