Suugestions for removing tree sap

I have some spots of tree sap from pine trees on the vinyl of our Wildwood expandable. I would like to give it a good cleaning and remove the sap before I put ti away for winter. Does anybody have suggestions for removing it without harming the vinyl and diminishing its waterproof capability? Any help would be appreciated.

Lacquer thinner.

Apply with a spray bottle. Rub lightly. Wipe clean.

Usually all you need is cold soapy water. If that doesn't work try a good wax and grease remover.

Wow! Resurrecting a 4 1/2 year old thread.

Since alive again, this is why you need to get PUGs.
then your vinylized canvas would stay clean.

Suugestions for removing tree sap

I thought I read somewhere that you shouldn't apply anything that has alcohol on your tent vinyl as it will diminish the protective coating? I purchased a mildew remover which also says can remove tree sap. But I haven't gotten around to giving it a go since the weather where I'm at has been a bit dreary.
So can you use WD40, Goo Gone & all other things like that on the vinyl safely? If so, that would be better since I have plenty of those things in the garage. Thanks in advance.

get some Popup Gizmos first so that the canvas is protected from tree sap.
Way easier to remove it from the PUGs than the canvas.
plus you get the temp control benefit also.

Anything with petroleum distillates should be used with caution on vinyl......it can strip away the plasticizers in the vinyl and make it become stiff and crack. Harsh cleaners such as Simple Green and the like should be diluted first. Plasticizers is what makes vinyl pliable.....wash with Oxiclean and then use your favorite vinyl protectant with UV protection every once in a while.....this helps keep things from sticking. I like Turtle Wax Super Protectant......come in a very bright green bottle. Popup Gizmos is another item that will help keep things clean
