Unscrew the short hose at the pump, screw short hose into coupler, screw short hose and coupler onto inlet hose, attach short hose back to pump. Easy, quick and will cost you .70 cents for the coupler and a little bit of Teflon tape.

Don't know how you accomplished it without twisting a hose then unless you disconnected a pipe.

So you saved $1.74 less the price of the clamp.

IF, I ever remove my filter, which I doubt I ever do, I will use the plumbers way and use a union.

I cut the pex fittings off (they leaked after unscrewing from the filter) and used a sharkbite coupling.

Is this the union to use?

I understand you unhooked the one hose from the pump, but how did you get the other hose unscrewed from the filter without turning the pex fittings?

Unhook hose from pump, hold wrench on inlet side of filter housing, turn filter housing till it comes loose from inlet hose, remove pump side hose from filter housing. Install threaded coupling on inlet hose, install pump hose onto threaded coupling, attach hose back on pump.

I have a Water Pur CCI-10-CLW filter housing. The pipe from my pump to the filter housing is 1/2" pex with at least 3 - 90 deg. horizontal and vertical bends in between. I think the filter housing is connected to the pex on either side using threaded white plastic connectors clamped to pex pipe.

The way that mine is plumbed, unless those white plastic threaded connectors rotate, I think I'm going to have buy a pex pipe cutter, some new pex pipe and sharkbite fittings in order to remove the filter housing and fill in the gap.

If you're going to scrap the filter, just remove the canister and cut the base in two with a hacksaw/cutoff wheel and unscrew the fittings and get a 1/2" UNION and connect them back together. You might need a short nipple if the pipes are too far apart and can't be moved.

I don't want to get rid of the filter housing. It's just in a very awkward place to try to unscrew the canister. I want to either relocate it to a place that's easier to get at, or make a portable mount for it outside.

any stock water cartridge filter available at box stores or local hardware store should work... they are pretty standard size, only different filtering specs as the prices goes up...

take the empty holder with you to confirm this when you go to purcahse

My 2014 Shamrock 183 was a stock size... I just took it out and went to an external filter from Walmart... much easier to maintain and no possible hidden water damage from a faulty filter install
