Bethany Beach, DE Delaware National Guard Campground

Good evening all,

I just returned from 5 days in Bethany Beach, DE. My wife, two kids, and myself stayed at the Delaware National Guard Training Center Base campground.

It was great! They have 22 sites total however, they were barely half full. All sites are concrete pads, completely level and have full hookups. They include cable and WIFI however, the Wifi range was fair but, not a huge necessity unless you want to go onto FRF!

They have 11 pull through sites and 11 back in sites. We stayed in a back in site which width wise wasn't huge but, it worked well for the area.

You are only two blocks to the beach and can easily walk it.

It is secured with 24hr security guards so it's very safe there but, most campgrounds are pretty safe anyway.

We have the 831RLSS so it was a little tight backing in with the length. I'd recommend anything over 32ft long to request a pull through site if able. If someone was at the site next to me, it would have been tricky as I had to back across that site to swing in.

Anymore questions on the campground feel free to let me know, we will be heading back next year for sure, the kids had a great time. Now, I need a vacation from the vacation!

Thanks! I did not know they had a campground. We were in the area and stayed at Delaware Seashore SP the same week.

Do you need to be an active or retired sevice member to stay at the campground?

Thanks.

Surv,

As long ad you have an ID card you can get in there. Active duty, reserve, guard, or retired military can get in there. The person next to me was a disabled veteran and he was there as well.

Definitely worth taking a look for the money. Not too far from Seashore SP as you know.

No campfires and pets.

Here is a link.

This is one of our "secret" campgrounds. Our 29 footer fills up the back in sites and I highly recommend getting one of the pull-throughs! There is a small area for crabbing and a track for running/walking along with a small exercise room. Negatives: no pets and no campfires.

Never knew it was there!!! DH was stationed at Indian River. We were thinking of camping one time there at the bridge at the Inlet. That is not the campground you are talking about?

Dorrie,

No, that campground you are referring to is a state park. This campground is a few miles towards the town of Bethany more heading South. If you hit the light at the main intersection with the Totem Pole in Bethany, you've gone too far.

Hello,

It is called "Bethany Beach Training Site Campground" Their website appears to be offline but here is a link to the U.S. Military Campground website:

U.S. Military Campgrounds and RV Parks - Bethany Beach Training Site

Phone number is 302-854-7902.

If you go there don't try to go through the first gate by the helicopter. It is locked and I thought I had messed up royally by turning off the highway at this gate. Luckily, there was a HUGE gap in traffic and I was able to back up and continue to the correct entrance. My blood pressure went up when I realized my mistake.

Another one of my "secret campgrounds" is Solomons Navy Recreation Area" in Solomons, MD and it is located just north of Pax River.

Shssssssssssssssssss. Don't tell anyone else!!!!!!

Did you feed the 2 big snapping turtles too? Most feed them a couple slices of bread but that almost worthless to them, a bit of chicken would be better.
