I was at the VA today for a doctors appointment. I was watching the guys and gals come and go as I waited and was sad to realize that the old timers were not WW2 but Korea and Nam. Not a single WW2 vet that I could see. I talked to a guy that I thought might be but he said he just missed it. We are losing that Greatest Generation so fast its sad. Hardly a word in any news paper that I saw about Pearl Harbor. Nothing on the news that I saw. I wonder if they even talk about it in school?
My mother-in-law was one the original WACs (Woman Army Corps). She is 93 and her husband that she met and married while "in the service" passed several years ago. God bless them both and I agree we should cherish them.
PS: I have noticed the same thing - us Vietnam era vets are now considered "The Old Guys".
