Favorite MWR Site for camping!
Ok just checking in trying to find the best MWR Famcamps and cost per day if you have it. I have found several small sites that were not on bases/post etc...

What State? I like Pensacola NAS tops and then in Virginia Oceans at the annex in Virginia beach. I do love the Thunderbirds, if you there before they go on tour. Plus the big AF museum. On the water. Then also in Jacksonville, they have 2 I like may port there, on the water to.

Also look up the private web site of the famcamps, they list the price per night all over the USA. Plus your contact #s and directions. Take your pick.

I'm sure you realize you have to be retired military or 100% disabled to use them and have a DOD card.

Your welcome, and thanks for your service. I think the site and it is free to join, is called Military Camp grounds. I use it all the time, some Famcamps are good some are really not, ft. Bragg sucks in my opinion. I'll never stay there again, but I like them most are about 30 dollars a night. Some on base some are not. I like the base ones better. I like seeing people doing there morning runs, and also the reminder of the military regiments. I have even gone to officers and NCO clubs, and even eaten in a mess hall again. Never encounter a bad person yet as a neighbor.... enjoy you have earned it.

Here is the DOD Consolidated Portal. You have to navigate around and drill down, but CG's and Recreational Areas are all listed.

Usmilitarycampgrounds.com is the goto source for all things FAMCAMP.
Run by a retired veteran, he validates every posting as he travels military bases.

Some are great, Some not so much. Sadly, some have homesteaders now.

I've been to quite a few, Navy, Army & Air Force and all had a maximum allowable stay of 30 days unless you're on official orders, TDY, PCS etc.

Yes same as I have found, and if your TDY, I think it's fine, I have been places that they allow DOD employees to have extended stays I don't think that is right. But if it's not ever full , more power to them now use the income for the grounds.

Howdy, we just booked for Redstone Arsenal, you have to pay when you book but it $20 a night with every 7th night free. Max 60 days reserved at a time. Worst case I've heard there is you change pads if you stay longer.
Semper Fi,
Mike

In Oceanside California is Camp Pendleton Marine Corp base campground called Del Mar Beach & Marina; Also on Camp Pendleton is San Onofre Beach Campground; and 3rd campground there is Lake O’Neill Campground. All 3 are awesome!! Each one has different vibe than the other.

Gila Bend FamCamp at Gila Bend Air Force Auxilary Field near Gila Bend Arizona. Quiet. Out there! Great scenic drives in area. Sunsets to die for.

Red River Army Depot in Hooks Texas. This is an older campground but still worth a stay. Nice lake views. Tons of retired Army vehicles of all kind.
