Isn't that the picture you could/can have taken at a place either in San Antonio or a place on Lackland?

IIRC you had to pay for?

I had mine taken in 1960 and probably wore that same jacket.

I had basic and special training in Amarillo AFB Texas just before Vietnam.
Lackland AFB was full at the time. LOL

I have never been to any place that honored vets like they did at the last Goshen Rally that had so many vets in the crowd. I have been in a meeting with several hundred men and woman and they asked for all the vets to stand to be recognized and 5 or 6 of us stood up. My guess was at Goshen half were vets. Whats that mean I have no idea but it made me feel good to be surrounded by so many service members. We even had a few jar heads and that made me even happier. A proud group.

I think our paths were somewhat similar. I attended BT at Lackland in July and Early August 1960 when the Cold War was really getting hot. I then attended "Phase 2" BT at Amarillo AFB as an 43131E ( Jet Aircraft over xx engines) and SAC was rapidly expanding. I and almost all in my class were assigned to SAC at Dyess AFB.

One more thought. The sacrifice that our families gave while we were deployed for months or in some cases years is something to be honored. They stayed home and worried and took care of the kids, maintained the house and tried to keep our morel up in never ending letters. So many really to darn many never had the reunion that they hoped for. So many lost their husbands, wives sons daughters brothers and sisters. This is all veterans day all rolled into one day.

Veterans Day. The 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month to be specific! This is the day to honor and remember all those that have served in the US Armed Forces! Myself and my brother during the Gulf War and my father during WWII. I also have a lot of friends that have served. I send thanks and have great respect for ALL.
