ABE1 ~ Catapults and Arresting Gear
served in the Tonkin Gulf aboard the U.S.S. Hancock (CV-19)
decommissioned the U.S.S. Intrepid (CV-11) at Quonset Point, RI
also served aboard the U.S.S. Forrestal, U.S.S. Independence and
U.S.S. Eisenhower
managed to do a bit of time at various shore & overseas duty stations
Retired in '94
Now ride with the Combat Veteran's Motorcycle Association (CVMA 26-1 in Vermont)

I was in the Air Force from 70-98 and my wife from 73-79. Civil Engineering for us both -- myself in Liquid Fuels and her in Admin. Been together for 42 years now and loving the retirement.

Yes, I know about being a sailor and just seeing a lot of dirt around, too. Spent three weeks at USMC base in 29 Palms one hot July. Sat there in base camp with my medical detachment wondering how a love of sailboats had resulted in my being in that scorched, hot, barren place! But, a sailor is a sailor; where the same uniform with pride. Welcome home!

Dirt sailor here stationed at Tinker AFB in Oklahoma City.

LT currently via the STA-21 program. Prior EM1 surface nuke for 12 years. 2.5 years til retirement. My undergrad in civil engineering and my MBA both on the Navy's dime.

enlisted in the Coast Guard in 1992 spent 7 years on active duty including 3 at sea on the Coast Guard Cutter Seneca doing drug and fisheries patrols and alien migration mostly Cuban and Haitian Ops. currently still in the Coast Guard Reserve as a Chief (E7) with one deployment to Kuwait for Operations OIF OEF coming up on 25 years of service and still no plans to leave.

How Many Vets on Here

USAF Lt Col retired Jan 1994. Command Pilot in C-141 Starlifter as well as Instructor Pilot in T-37 and T-38. Had a lot of fun, made a lot of friends, and been enjoying retirement.
