The guys in now I don't see how they do it. I had it easy in my 20 years only have two 1 year deployments that I couldn't bring my family. I'm next to military base and some these with under 10 years service are on their 5th or 6th deployments and looking forward to the next one. That has to be hard on family life and even harder on the kids. My heart goes out to the current crop of military.

I retired from the Army/National Guard, 9 years in the Army the rest of time in Guard. I don't miss it, not any of it. The best duty I had was Alaska, going back this year. Two tours in Nam and I hardly ever think about it. The retired pay is alright but Tri-Care for Life is the best. DW and me have one less thing to worry about now, no hospital bills

Mark,

I also was a flight deck troubleshooter on The Big E in 75-76-77 with HS2. I thought our visit to Tasmania was the highlight of that cruise. We likely brushed elbows at one point.
