US Marine Corps 1985-2005. Combat Engineer for 6 years "latmoved" to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician with a 3 year tour of "combat" as a recruiter on the streets of Newark, NJ. 3 Deployments (6 months each) to the Mediterranean Sea. 3 conflicts, Desert Shield/Storm, Somalia, and Kosovo. People ask me "do you miss the Marines", my answer is "no, not at all, I work on Parris Island" I'm around it all day!!!

Sounds like we was on the Lincoln at the same time. I'm a Plankowner and left in March of 91. I was in the weapons department "W" division. Rode her around the horn to Alameda. We may went through the Shellback initiation together.

Your the first person that I've run across that was also on the Indy. I was on her from 82-85. Did 3 Med cruises and a North Atlantic.

I was a a marine passenger on the USS Debuque, we pulled in weeks after the eruption. I agree, it was a total mess.

I have seen that term "plankowner" many times, what does that mean? My husband was USN too. He served on the USS RANGER 1967-69.
