I would like to say thank you to all our men and women who serve. In addition, to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice and their families, may God bless you and you are in our thoughts on this Memorial Day weekend and always.

As I sit here with friends and family enjoying my adult beverage while planning our day off tomorrow, I can't help but think of the brave, young men and women who have made the ultimate sacrafice that allows a lot of us to enjoy this extended weekend. I am not only thinking of these heros, but also their families. There are many fathers and mothers who have lost a brave son or daughter. There are many children who can not understand why their mother or father will not be coming home. Let's honor those heros by remembering their sacrifices.
God bless them all.

I'm sure many will thank you for your thoughts and wishes, but Memorial Day is not for those who have or are currently serving ~ That would be Veteran's Day. Memorial Day is for the ones who never made it home or gave it all, reporting to a much higher unit.
I'm not attempting to correct you in any fashion, but this weekend and this specific day is for them.

Thank you Sir, and that is what it's all about, not the sales - Bar-b-Que's - golf tournaments and such ~ but many don't know or remember anymore.
I only wish I could have known a few of my ancestors or would have even heard my family mention their names, instead ~ we had to search for the information ourselves. I'm still so proud of them, from the first battle to the Viet Nam War ~ except for the Korean Conflict, a family member in each and every fight.
Today, the DW and I participated in what's known as the Vermont Thunder Ride. We gathered at the Vermont Viet Nam Veteran's Memorial and rode across the state from East to West in honor of our past Hero's. She was asked to deliver the Prayer for the ride, for which I felt very honored.
Can you imagine over 100 bikes on an interstate highway traveling about 55 mph? We hold the ride on the same weekend as 'The Run to The Wall' for those who cannot make the ride to D.C. Unfortunately for reasons beyond our control, 2017 will be the last Vermont Thunder Ride.
To those disserving and to the families who have lost loved ones ~ I proudly render a Slow Salute.

As we all celebrate this weekend, take a moment to remember all gave some and some gave all. Please take a moment of silence and pour out some of your beverage for those that can't be there to enjoy a cold one. Take this time to teach or remind your children of the sacrifices made by others so that we may enjoy our freedoms today. Thank you to all who have served and all who currently serve.

This past week I was in D.C. We went to Arlington National Cemetery and visited the grave of the unknown soldier. I have been blessed not to have known anyone who gave their life in war, but I appreciate all who have died to keep us free throughout the centuries. May God bless their souls and grant them peace and rest. I will upload a picture I took at the Vietnam Memorial of the Vietnam Nurses Memorial. Please remember all the women who have given their lives in service. They did so courageously and without thought for themselves.

Thank you for sharing. It is because of those Ladies that many wear able to return home and yes, we remember and give Thanks for them also. All hero's weren't necessarily on the front lines.

Thank you, all our men and women who have served so we can have our freedom! It's a one day remembrance that should remind us to remember our veterans everyday!

Participated in the American Legion annual motorcycle caravan from Loganville, GA to Madison, GA where there is a memorial ceremony at the downtown Veterans Square. Over 800 bikes showed up, but the amazing sight was the literally thousands of people standing roadside waving American flags. This 40 mile trip is through rural towns and on country roads.
Here's a pix of a crowd turnout in a town of less than 4,000.

Outstanding emm-dee! We rode from St. Johnsbury, VT down Interstate 91, then onto Interstate 89 and to the Vermont Viet Nam Veteran's Memorial. About 35 or so of us from VT CVMA Chapters. Once there, we met up with a hundred + bikers and headed across I-89 toward Enosburg Falls, Vermont for the ceremony, same as you ~ end up traveling thru small back country towns as we get close to the end. Total for me & DW was around 140 miles 1-way, then the ride back home. Started around 0700, made it back in the door at 1830. What a day, my arms were definitely red by the time we got home. This was what's known as Vermont Thunder and is supposed to be the last roundup for it. A shame, but too many got stupid showing off last year! Have been times when I've seen around 300 bikes making the run.
Thank you for the pic ~

I went to the first Legion Memorial Day ride here about 6-7 years ago. It was about 250-300 bikes then and has grown larger every year. Last year was verified at 800+ and I think it was about the same this year. The police block every red light and major intersection along the route (I heard it takes 50 police cars to do the job) so with that much scrutiny I don't think we'll get much stupid showing off.
Here's a pix of the staging area at the AL hall (you can only see about one quarter of the area in this pix).

WOW!! That looks like when we do the Shriner's Toy Run and end up on the step of the State Capitol in Montpelier. With our short riding season up here, people have to choose wisely when & where they ride. Normally, we fill the upper parking lot at the rest stop, then many more riders pick up at the half way point with DOT doing the escort services until we get off the interstate and into the small towns. Stupidity is normally show-offs who come along side in the open lane on the interstate.
Always makes me feel good when riders from so many associations & MCs can put difference aside for at least 1 day! Have seen many posts on fB today and some from GA showing MCs doing their own thang, doesn't matter to me as long as they remember and show respect in their own way. We have many Blue Knights, Red Knights, Legion Riders and others also
