Navy 1973-1979
I was in the Navy from 73-79 and was a Data Systems Technician 2nd Class with a 1668 job code. I worked on the computers aboard the USS California CGN-36 (74-79) that were responsible for target acquisition, tracking, designation and eventual destruction if need be. The computers back then were as big as a double wide fridge and were water cooled. Your phone has more power than those computers did.

AF Reserve 461/2W0 Munitions. 5 years active, 3 in the Ohio ANG, and 22 now this month (the big 3-0!) in the Reserves as an Individual Mobilization Augmentee (IMA), attached to the active duty 649th MUNS at Hill AFB. Was formerly with the Air Force Reserve Ammunition Team (AFRAT) at Blue Grass Army Depot before the unit was dissolved in 2016.
My final enlistment was the 4th of July 2020. That'll put me at 33 years in April 2024

A vet's a vet. You still get the veteran's discount on Cunard lines. This is the truly important thing.

I basically had a job LOL.. I started as a 75B unit clerk and then 79D personnel admin. Went to OOE Recruiting and then to 96B military intel. Then I went back to Recruiting so that is where I retired as Senior Guidance Counselor at MEPS Ft Jackson, SC. I had it made for sure. Thanks to all the guys and gals who sacrificed so much more. I retired in 2005 as a MSG/E8. So blessed and would do it all over again.
