Kadena AF Okinawa. That brings back some memories from the 60s.
I was at Fort Buckner for a week long debriefing back in '67, and was able to visit some of the local hot spots....BARS. Saki is NOT your friend, the next day!
Also made a three day stop on the way back to the states at Camp Kuwae Naval Hospital.

Spent several years in the weapons storage area with the 461's, mostly playing double-deck pinochle. Hunted and fished with a few of them. I actually served as a munitions controller for a year.

Veterans SCAM???
Although I was in the Navy (got out 42 years ago) I was never a member of the Navy CU, and even if I had been then, I would have had no email address in those days!
So imagine my surprise when I received an email today purportedly from the Navy Federal Credit Union.
I'm pretty sure it's a scam. It has a link to "www.navyfederal.org," but if you hover your mouse over it and look down at the bottom to see where it's really going, it's a totally different, and suspicious-looking, website.
While "www.navyfederal.org" is the valid website of the Navy CU, this link will not take you there.
I don't know if they somehow got my email from this forum, or if they sent it to a million addresses and simply scored a Navy vet when I got it.
In any case, I have attached a PDF of the email; hopefully none of you will fall for it.
Sorry if I've "stolen" the thread.

I guess you could say I served in U.S. Air Force during a hot period of the Cold War ( July 1960 - July 1964) in the Strategic Air Command (SAC). I worked around and on B47 bombers that were loaded with nuclear bombs and "cocked" ready to drop them on you know who. I served during both the Cuban crisis and the Kennedy assassantion. Believe me - those bombers were dispersed to various bases with the flight crews almost living in them just waiting for the klaxon to blow.
A time I will never forget.
