Currently I'm active duty Coast Guard and my rating is MK1 (Machinery Technician First Class / E-6) basically I'm a diesel mechanic but at my current unit I serve as a hazardous materials response technician.
to all those that served before me, those that are currently serving alongside me today, and those that will serve after I'm gone.

Yeah tough duty...My old unit came home just after I did. I left in Dec. and they came home just after that. Going to a unit reunion in August in Canandaigua, New York. Most were mechanics, some pilots and other support staff. Glad you are on the forum....Happy Camping. My wife says I piddle to much on our Puma, but it keeps me busy.

I was a 4R071, Radiology Journeyman for the first 18 years, then cross trained and became a 2T271, Air transportation for the last seven years. I went from shooting x-rays and CAT Scans in the hospital, to driving forklifts and pushing big-***** pallets onto cargo planes. Talk about a culture shock, but I had fun doing both!

Did you use a K Loader when pushing pallets? I know where you are coming from, 27 plus years in the Air National Guard as a mechanic, crewchief etc. I used to help the loads all the time. My son is an aeroport officer at Pope, AFB. He started out pushing and loading pallets as an enlisted man.

Submarine Electricians Mate Nuclear 2nd Class Petty Officer (EM2(SS) when I hit EoAS). I operated and maintained the entire ships electrical distribution system from the moment it was made at the steam generators or batteries until it came out of the wire for the engine room coffee machine (most important electrical load on the ship!) Served on USS Norfolk for final year of refuel and first year of recertification, and the USS Hyman G. Rickover for the last tour and decom.
