I spent 5 years on USS Ingersoll (DD-990) then elected to be a 9545, security specialist. Did a couple of years at that and then applied for the Army warrant program, where I was an 880A2 (Marine Deck Officer)........Made CW3 and retired.

I was there in 82 as a FT. Orlando was probably my best experience of being in the Navy.

Sure is, I work on Parris Island. The place was like a ghost town today, all the Marines have a "96" and us "sand crabs" had to be there or take leave. That's okay, I milked plenty of 96's in my day!!

last but not least Navy Chief Warrant Officer W2 for albiet a very short time of 6 months. ( long story, but still get credit as an officer towards education and some benifits)
the h-60 and h-2 you deployed on small ships and we stood alone as a sinlge entity with 12-15 folks and maintained our bird to carry out missions so deemed at the pleasure of yada yada. LOVED it
LAMPS light utility airborne multi purpose system,
Absolutley loved the 22.5 years of service and would gladly return to service if called upon.

AW2 here
I was an Anitsubmarine Warfare Operatior (AW) in a helo squadron which meant we were also Search and Rescue (SAR) swimmers. Got lots of hours in the SH-2D/F's. Enlisted for 6 years, 1971-77 and worked as a civilian employee of the Navy for 35 years. Retired this past May as an Engineering Tech (glorified machinist really!).
Wouldn't change a minute of it.

Old Cavalryman
Twenty-two years of US Army service here.
1. For a few years with the engineers I was truck driver.
2. Later assigned to Armor unit still as a truck driver .
3. Then onto Armor and into the Cav - Buffalo Soldiers 10th Cav.
4. Moved into Operations secondary specialty as a 12A54
5. Did some work with distributed learning just before retirement.
Took on a second career with an appliance manufacturer.
Always cherish my service and the opportunities - I found a home. Always felt a little like Andy Griffith in "No Time For Sergeants". Big old country boy suddenly a long ways from home.

My 1st Sergeant was invaluable, always counted on him and the SGM. Commanded for 4 years and I get it. PS: Top and I didn't always agree but I we always counted on each other. Thank you for your service.
