Got a flag, pole, and pole light from Camping world for the camper. That light does a very good job! Lasts ALL night!Click image for larger version

Just bought the 17' Camco fiberglass collapsible flag pole thru Walmart, came with under the tire mount and in ground sleeve. Unfortunately, the cheap junk finial on top is (was) a very thin plastic silver ball and already broken. I wasn't worried as I had ordered the same flag pole light which Ron has pictured.
Problem!! Center mounting hole for the light is much smaller than the flag pole! Since no finial, I turned down a dowel rod to fit thru the light, about 5/8" X 1/2" dia., then turned down another 5" X 9/16" (I think) to fit inside the flag pole. I then drilled a hole in the small end and used a stand off bolt & large lamp shade finial (I painted chrome).
Now, I place the dowel rod thru the light base, screw on the finial, insert the 5" end into the flag pole, add 2 flags (3X5 U.S. & 2X3 POW/MIA) as I raise the flag pole.
Poh folks have poh ways ~~
The light which Ron has posted is definitely bright and throws about a 15' circle!
I'll be placing the tire mount stand under the nose jack to hold it in place.

The package the light and mounting gear came in, had a plastic rod with a wing nut on top. The rod bottom fit into the pole top, the light fit down over it, and wing nut holds it on. (Not a tight fit over plastic rod, maybe 1/8th inch loose?). I also got a cheap plastic ball to go on top, have yet to figure how to mount that over the light. So did not require any dowel to put them all together.
Thought about a ground / tire mount, but if I ever put it up on levels. The wheel mounts would be loose.
My ladder buddy mount work good any time I don't back into trees, so no over head then.
Oh well, still working for PERFECT solution, not sure I will ever get there!

Ron ~ the tire mount that came with mine is a flat plate with a 'tube' that screws onto it. You assemble those 2 pieces and then drive onto the flat plate. I will be using that set-up under the nose jack of my 26RR, not under one of the wheels. Since I haven't actually used it at a camp site as yet, I may need to use some paracord for guide lines down to the trailer tongue.

I have seen this set-up before by one of our Brothers on his camper.

We'll see ~~

Flag Pole

Might consider the flagpolebuddy.com. Just received mine really nice. Flies my two 3x5 flags. Ladder mount, excellent system.

New to RV, so not up on the Flag Hype, but OK.

As to attaching to the ladder .... After experiencing the extremely poor construction in the industry, I am reluctant to use/climb the ladder unless 100% necessary. I'll use an extension ladder when needed.

BTW, I found GT only installed 3 of the 4 top screws on one ladder attachment plate. No biggie you say, not me!

So, there is no way, I am going to induce a failure point to an already weak design.

Good suggestion Barnstormer, but won't work on my 26RR as this is a Toy Hauler, no ladder on the back. The entire rear is a ramp.

With the way I plan on doing it, the flags will be at the nose, not on the rear of the TT. No worries concerning tree limbs or whatever back there.

edited for last sentences.

Interesting development on my fiberglass pole.
Bought a good, heavy canvas type material, Navy flag and put that under the U.S. Flag.
Woke up this morning with the pole collapsed! Had some lite rain last night and the friction will not hold the weight of both flags while wet!
Does alright with just the light nylon flag, but not the heavier Navy flag. :-(
Held fine when dry and both flags, but not wet. Oh well. Will have to do some re-thinking on it!

Extend it and drill a hole for a push pin to hold it up.

We fly up to three flags on one pole, one of them is usually the heavier double sided flag. The pole will collapse, but very rarely anymore after we got the hang of extending them and then twisting as hard as you can

As I had commented, think it was the water that caused the slip. Worked well for a week when dry.
Since, with the light on top, I plan to leave it out in most weather, my expected options would be, take the extra flag down when rain threatened, or just stick to one flag, for now.
My started objective, was just the U.S. Flag. Anything else is gravy on top!

I see you mounted on your ladder.

I have a ladder mount that I use for my antennas, but I tried putting my flag up there and was worried about the flex I see on the ladder.

Has that ever been a problem for you?

We haven't had any problems to date with the ladder mount. We use that mount the most. I don't ever see any flex in the ladder itself. Going on 6 years now.

So far, (knock on wood!) all has been well that way! My Forest River FR3 camper has a fairly strong ladder. Where it is screwed into the roof, causes me some concerns, small amount of flex in the roof as I pull myself up onto the roof. But otherwise solid.

Thanks, I will look at removing the ladder and resealing; then out in bigger stainless screws.

I have the 22' fiberglass pole from the flagpoleguy.com at the FROG Rally. I fly the USA and POW/MIA flags with solar light.
