Retired on 21 years active. For 16 years I was a P2 sailor. Prior to that I had 3 years on the carriers with a fighter squadron. I was an Ordnanceman, E-6. During my flying days I was in a aircraft accident, in which the ground riseth up and smite the living daylights out of 16 of us. The Navy put me back together. I retired in June of 1980. In Dec. of 91, the VA took my knee out and gave me a TKR. I am now at 100% Service connected. Been thru the Nam mess and came out without a scatch. Accident happened in Brunswick Maine, a few years after Nam.

I'm disabled vet too. Love the Air Force comment. I used wish that I was in the Air Force whenever we had a layover during deployments- real food, much better then anything Ft. Ord ever severed

United States Coast Guard---1966-1970

Two years aboard the CG Cutter Rockaway 377

Weather cutter first couple of months, then the ship had the 5" gun removed and we become an oceanography ship.
Saw a bunch of little island and transited the panama canal many times. (we operated out of Staten Island,NY)

Wanted off the ship sooo bad that I and five others put in for Nam. I got orders to great lakes naval training center, and the other 5 went to Nam.
That's called KARMA.

Spent the last two years in law in forcing from New York to Delaware.

Learned a lot in the engine room about mechanical, also learned that I didn't want to do that for the rest of my life. Lol

Like others on this post, I too would do it again. USS Henry B Wilson (DDG-7), USS William H Standley (CG-32), and USS Essex (LHD-2) along with a school and shore commands.

DV here. USAF 1967 - 1997. First 14 years enlisted; last 16 commissioned...

Loved 30 years worth of conus and overseas assignments.

Most memorable:

A1 Skyraider Crew Chief: 1st Special Op Squadron; Danang SVN 1971.

POW/MIA Operations Officer: Joint Task Force - Full Accounting Det 2, Hanoi PRV 1994; Closed some doors during that one...

Thanks to all who served. I'd proudly camp beside any of you any day of the week...
