You are correct! Cape Disappointment! Some nasty waves out there. I was part of the school staff, maintaining the boat for training.

I was on the Lincoln for her maiden voyage. Brought her around the horn of South America from Norfolk to Alameda.
Did first deployment in 91. The day before we were to pull into the Philippines, Mt. Pinotubo erupted. Had been dormant for over 500 years. Bad timing huh? Spent 3 months in the gulf during Desert Storm. 3 stops in Dubai.
Stopped in P.I., Singapore, Hong Kong. Seemed like forever while we were deployed. Didn't seem so bad when we got back home. Did most of my enlistment at NAS Miramar.

I was on the USS Lake Champlain (CG-57) behind the Abe. That was my 3rd deployment.
