I got verified then I got selected as a beta tester. I signed up at the online exchange and have looked for a few things there that I wanted to purchase lately. Their prices were not competitive on the items I was looking for but I will absolutely continue to check there and will buy when it is reasonable to do so. I know the profits go toward health and morale things for the service members.

I must say that when I originally posted this I had know idea we would get 5 pages of msgs. I think we should all support the Exchange in some form or fashion just to help out our fellow Vets. If you haven't signed up it a good deal and another way of checking purchase prices. And come-on if it's within a few bucks get it from the Exchange. Besides price match & tax free, items over $49.00 and Military Star ship free too.

I have to say that, as an Exchange associate, if I can get an item cheaper elsewhere, I DO!
But, I estimate that I save hundreds to thousands of dollars a year shopping at the Exchange and at shopmyexchange.com. And the Star Card is the friendliest credit card I have. (BTW, this month, commissaries will take the Star Card!)
On edit: I am on page 1.

I verified a while ago, but forgot about it. I was able to setup an account online today. Haven't bought anything, but have price compared a few things. Considering shipping and sales tax it would be a bit cheaper buying from Exchange.

I can beat the exchange price on PX items, Amazon normally beats but I usually shop where I don’t pay sales tax. I did recently take advantage of Disney tickets, they are about half price for a five day park hopper.

I got my online account set up this morning. Have done a little browsing but no purchases yet.
Thanks to all for the tips!

That's pretty much what I found with Amazon, etc. However, like I mentioned earlier, I've been on the the early pilot program for several months now and the clearance/special/sale items that I bought or checked, blew Amazon and other places out of the water.
The email codes they send to take an additional 30% off of even clearance items are really great. We got some toys and things for my wife's home daycare that were half the price of Amazon.

Being a medically retired Marine for some years now I have access to the Commissary and Exchange, we never use them as Wal Mart and other stores have better prices. Ever since the military stopped the draft and they raised their pay scale BIG TIME in order to attract people into joining the prices in the Commissary and Post exchange went through the roof.
But I did look at the new online Exchange a few days ago see no deals there myself maybe as more military sign up they will drop their prices some I hope but not holding my breath.
But I will sign up for a star card and watch the sales items.

BX isn't the same BX we use mot Know
I live in Vegas and military retired. Nellis AFB is within easy reach. But other then meds, I never really use the BX for anything any more. You don't really save anything, get cheaper gas outside the gate. Its now a .money making operation if you ask me. Personal observation you still better be about the size when you retired. Large and extra large are hard to find at the BX anymore lol.

Guess the Military Star card can only be used at the Exchange and not used like your credit card?

Not entirely correct. The Star Card can now be used at the commissary.
