No problem with that at all. Most Harley people are not in the childish years any longer and are thoughtful. CrotchRocket riders are often younger and inconsiderate.
I think the 'noise for safety' started when I was riding back in the '60s. Then AC was a $1000 option on a $4000 vehicle so cars had their windows down in summer when riders were prevalent. Today drivers have the windows up, AC and radio on and don't hear the bike until startled when it is right beside them. I don't buy it any longer...

My bike is low to medium rumble. I enjoy riding. I would have a headache if I rode some of the loud pipes. I don't want to wear ear protection while riding. Just my preference.

In all the cases I stated it was Harley's! The crotch rocket punks can be heard several miles away speeding down the highway for quit a while but usually up close while idling are not nearly as offensive.

You need to reread my post
I SAID I start the day AFTER everyone wakes up and get back before everyone goes to bed
In fact campers like you that stay up making a racket around the annoying smoky fire, usually drunk and there's always that one woman, drunk with the annoying laugh and she laughs at EVERYTHING,Country music blasting
There, how's it feel to be stereotyped

I also feel the same way. Even CGs that have etiq. rules, more often than not, they are fluffed off. Don't get me wrong, a time and a place to enjoy but not at others enjoyment.

I'm all for CG etiquette and all under "normal" conditions, but consider for a moment--we're talking about Bike Week here. Daytona Bike Week at that. It's an event. It's a lifestyle. And like any event/hobby, there's going to be some azzholes. So if you don't want to be bothered by loud bikes, I'd say avoid camping in an area with a Bike Week event going on. Now, if it's a normal CG on a normal week, then yes, people should be more considerate of their fellow campers. But for BW--all bets are off, dude.

I just came home from Myrtle Beach for a big car show and at the CG where we stayed wasn't that bad. Guys leaving early for the show, but were pretty good at keeping the rumble down.

The sad part of Bike Week in Myrtle Beach is the hotels and CGs do not inform all when making reservations. "heads on beds" is the motto of greed always stated by a former mayor. The Harley people come ~~ many thousands and have a small percentage of fools and drunks but generally are not bad. The following week is Black Bike Week and here come the rice burners.....................

Always enjoy the riders with the hearing protection. They never seem to offer me hearing protection when they roll up next to me at a stop light. Seems like the only person that should not have hearing protection on, is the individual that replaced the factory pipes with the loud set of pipes. All on road vehicles should have the same decibel requirements.

Moderators Note: The OP discusses the issues with costs and availability of campsites during bike week ( and other major events). The thread has wandered totally off topic to a heated discussion on the pros and cons of loud pipes. This is a great discussion for a motorcycle forum but not FRF especially when members are not adhering to the "Play Nice Rule" The thread is in jeopardy of being closed.
