I am heading to Ouray in a couple of weeks and cannot decide if I should take the DRZ400, TR640, or Desert Sled ??? I have not even decided if I want to do more pavement or more dirt. I have such problems

Just make sure those bikes are tied down good. I have a trailer just like it and that thing can get pretty bouncy.

I'd take the DRZ. Then over Black Bear Pass to Telluride for lunch and back over Imogene Pass to Ouray. Nothing to tough, mostly fire road.

And i could ride the San Juan Skyway and highway 550 which is spectacular. Or go east over the Alpine loop. Or do what you say. Either way you cannot go wrong over there.

Nice looking rig, is that a sprinter chassis?
I’m considering moving to a sprinter class B (or B+) and sell off the toy hauler.
Interested in any feedback from others that have sprinter chassis RVs

Yes, it is a Mercedes Sprinter - Coachmen Prism 2150LE. Love it so far. The diesel puts it down tbe road nicely and I'm getting 13.75 mpg. Towing capacity is 5,000 lbs. Let me know if you're looking for any other specific info.

I did the Alpine Loop (all 5 passes) while doing the COBDR on a Moto Guzzi Stelvio last year. Nice bit of riding, that! Got a little puckered a couple times navigating a few of the switchbacks that really pitched up. That was day two of the ride. After that, the rest of the ride was tame!

I rode the alpine loop 2008. I’d take the DRZ for lighter weight - assuming it’s plated.
I wrestled a 400# KLR and was wishing it was my xr400 at times.
The td650 might be more fun on the roads (and if fuel ijected, may be more enjoyable at the high altitudes).

Yeah, the pig can get heavy, especially when you misjudge the depth of a mudhole and it sinks almost to the bottom of the seat. Trying to pick it out of some Louisiana mud with suction isn't fun. Ask me how I know? [emoji3]

Louisiana mud - been there done that on several occasions.
Living in LA you learn pretty quick to not trust mud holes. Let the other guy go first - lol

My effort at dualsporting, 2009 KLR650. Only got 6800 miles on it, rode a Goldwing to 101,000, now we don't do much riding. We bought a Polaris RZR about six years ago, replaced it four years ago with another. That's our fun machine now.

Try not to trailer/haul them anywhere...I like to ride...but old age and smarts have been finding their way into my life recently...so, that is why we just got the TH...so soon as I get it rigged out we will be hauling the Uly to Colorado this spring!
