Sturgis 2015

Any folks on here planning to do the 75th Sturgis this coming August? I have a reservation to stay down in Custer at the Big Pine CG. I am riding my gl1500. DW is our chase vehicle, pulling our a122s.

Yep....be in Sturgis on the South side of the freeway at Hog Heaven Campground. Made reservations before leaving Sturgis last Aug. as we knew the 75th would be big, attendance wise. Also ride a 1500 wing....although it will get a trailer ride out for the second time in my 10 years of going.

Jay, Welcome to the forum from another Jay.

We love Big Pines Campground in Custer. Have not been there for a couple of years but past visits have always been good. It is a great location away from the hustle and bustle but still close enough to ride in.

Here is a pic from our last trip (prior to the Travel Trailer) when we travel out west for a great 3 week ride.

Enjoy the trip, there are so many things to see in the area.

PS our avatar picture was from this same trip taken in Yellowstone.

We haven't been to Big Pine since the summer of 2005 when we were regulars there, and we loved it then! We had a 21 ft. hybrid back then, and we usually had a spot overlooking the tenters. Won't forget watching some poor guys (motorcyclists) trying to set their individual pup tents up in the rain. Loved listening to the pine trees rustling at night.

Retired...
If you're asking me about Hog Heaven, this is our first year there with the RV. We stayed in another "unnamed" campground last year with the motor home and were not impressed at all!!! After a quick tour of the grounds, we reserved our spot before leaving Sturgis last Aug. I think this place looks pretty nice, although a little more $$$ .... but at least the spots are flat and the shower rooms look pretty nice. Looking forward to another "good" time.

I stayed at Chris' Campground in Spearfish Last year in my buddies FW. I was quite impressed with their setup and how clean and neat the campground was. Even the shower houses and bathrooms were kept clean and orderly. Reservations have already been made this year and I will be bringing up my new 2017 Nitro FW for the event.

Our group really liked Hog Heaven. If we weren't headed on an Alaskan cruise the end of Aug 16, we'd be going back again this year. I will be reserving my 2017 spot during the 2016 Rally.
