You don't want a Champion 4000 if you are in a campground. It's an open frame contractor-style generator which is too loud.
It's fine for motor race events, boondocking in dispersed areas or for home backup power.
I know cause I own one. Plus it weighs 100lbs.
I have a Honda 2000i that I use for campgrounds.
I'm assuming that you have a SUV and not a truck. Most smaller inverter generators have a vent cap you can shut off to prevent fumes from escaping.
I've transported mine in our car without issues.
My Rockwood is of similar size.
