As long as the water has a place to expand to - such as inside the non-pressurized suction pipe, it shouldn't be any issue as even FR shows that their piping systems can withstand freezing....
But I reverse blew air back into the suction pipe by opening the tank shut-off valve at the pump inlet, and blew air into and through the pipe that you would normally put into your antifreeze bottle. I could hear a little bit of water going back to the fresh water tank. It was just a little! Then it drained back and out thru the tank drain valve.
