Best tip..The BEST Places to eat where you live!

So, I'm not sure there is a thread about this already, but I figured I'd start one.

I want to know where the best food is throughout the country. Most of us have slightly different tastes in food I'm sure, but we can generally agree that Good food is Good food!

So here is my choice, based right here in Corpus Christi, TX. (20mins from Rockport, N. Padre Island, Aransas Pass). 2hrs from San Antonio and 4 from Houston.

The BEST BAR B-Q I have ever had (and that's saying a lot). We eat here only about once a month just to keep from raising our cholesterol to Deep Red zone numbers as well as keeps us wanting more.

The BAR B-Q MAN!

Great thread idea! I have a couple books that I just got that has some of the best food around the country that isn't a Michelin star restaurant. If anyone is in the Tipp City, OH area (or passing through along I-75) stop in at Hinders Bar & Grill just off the interstate to the east on St Rt 571. They make some pretty good wings there and serve some good cold beverages. Plenty of parking behind bar for RV (turn right on Tippecanoe dr) Another favorite just to the south about 3miles on I-75 is Bunkers Bar & Grill (starting to see a trend here? ). Good wings & sandwiches! A little tougher parking an RV, may have to park across street in (I think is a church) parking lot.

I like Culver's. They are headquartered north of Madison, WI but have locations in much of the US. We like to stop there when traveling. Restaurant is always clean. The food is good, fast, and consistent no matter which location you stop at. One down side is that their parking lots rarely have room to accommodate our truck and trailer.

If you ever get to South Central MN at the intersections of I35 and I90 Trails Travel Center is one of the top 10 rated truck stops in the US. I eat there on average of 2 times a week. Excellent full service Tavern inside too called Skol's.

In the Atlanta area go to the Marietta Diner in Marietta on Cobb Parkway (just south of the Big Chicken-a landmark). Make sure you go hungry or else you won't be able to clean your plate, you won't be disappointed. For desert there is a Krispy Kreme across the street, wait for the "Hot & Now" sign to be lit for the freshest pastry. Or downtown there is the worlds largest drive-in, The Varsity, get a couple chili dogs, Coke and some onion rings. Further to the west in Douglasville is an excellent Cajun restaurant called Gumbos in downtown Douglasville. BBQ is abundant all over the area but for great ribs go to Fat Matts (in the daytime). I avoid restaurants in Buckhead as they are out of my budget range.

In Kansas City, Bar-B-Que is king. Gates, Smokehouse, Zarda's, and Joe's are the best in the area. You can't go wrong with any of them. Smokehouse and Joe's are my personal favorites.

Thanks for the info everyone! Since this thread can get confusing, perhaps we can build some structure to it so it's easier to search.

Maybe this format
>Restaurant Location: Corpus Christi, TX (So people can see if it near them first)
>Food Type: American, BBQ, Brisket (So people can determine if it's the type of food they want)
>Name: Bar B-Q Man
>Best Menu Item: 1st Brisket!! 2nd Ribs!!, 3rd Sausage
>Price Range: $10-15per person
>Parking: Can Accomidate most vehicles and truck/trailer combos under 50' total ft.
>Comments: Love their Brisket either lean or marbled! Their BBQ Sauce is amazing! Great Customer Service!

We have a really good burger place here call McDonald's. Maybe in time it will catch on and branch out around the world.

Just kidding it makes me want to vomit.

Indian Pass Raw Bar near Port St. Joe, Florida and Tony's Seafood (award winning clam chowder) in Cedar Key, Florida, plus about any local restaurant in Apalachicola. You won't go away hungry and about the best people you'll ever want to meet!

John, you get me everytime you post something like this. I was like "whoa, someone mentioned Piqua", then I see it you! Sadly, the old Russia (pronounced Rue-She) dining spot is no more.

Good idea Cobra. Here are a couple of places if you're ever on Hwy 395 east of the Sierra in California and Nevada:

Location: Bishop, CA
Food Type: Sandwiches, Baked Goods
Name: Erik Schat's Bakery
Best Menu Item: Fresh Baked Turkey Sandwich
Price Range: $10-$15
Parking: Across the street in the city park lot
Comments: Don't forget to buy a loaf of Cheese Bread or Cinnamon Bread; they're to die for!

Location: Gardnerville, NV
Food Type: Family Style Basque
Name: JT Bar & Grill
Best Menu Item: Lunch for best price, but dinner family style is excellent
Price Range: Lunch $10; Dinner $20
Parking: Behind the building
Comments: Great for authentic Basque food.

Great idea!

Navarre, FL - The Rib Shack (real barbecue but in a quaint setting, avoid the flashier tourist traps)

Foley, AL - Lambert's Cafe (southern cooking, very good price, fun atmosphere)

Destin, FL - Louisiana Lagniappe (must make a reservation, very fancy place but really good food. Dress up)

Destin, FL - Fudpuckers (super touristy, terribly loud and fun, real alligators you can feed, worth a visit)

Destin, FL - Black Pearl (great seafood, even better view)

Ft. Walton Beach, FL - The Crab Shack (the place to go for authentic crab, great views)

Pensacola, FL - McGuires Irish Pub (live Irish music every night at 9, lots of beers to try, eat off the Irish fare menu. Having been to Ireland, the Irish fare menu is pretty accurate to traditional pub food.)

Fayetteville, NC - Fuller's Buffet (amazing southern cooking, great prices, try the pecan pie!)

Also, if you've never heard of the Yelp! app, download it! It gives reviews, prices, menus, addresses, hours, etc. and you can search by food type or services like hair salons, etc. Lifesaver!

St Simons Island, GA. Barbara Jeans in the village, Crab Shack on Ocean Blvd., and Georgia Sea Grill also in the village area, and Halyards.
Come to think of it, I've never had a bad meal on the island and I do love to eat
