Maybe the mods can sticky this thread. Also, you think youre hungry now, wait until people start posting pictures of the foods.

So who wants to put all of these in a list? Maybe save as pdf file and update as needed. Organize by region, etc. I'm simply a "delegator" on matters such as these.

Anyone live near a PoFolks restaurant? When I lived in Panama City it was a favorite of mine. Great southern home cooked food!

Just looked them up on Internet they are still around. I think I went there when stationed at Eglin AFB

Haven't read every post but my criteria is local dives that have been around for a longggggggggggggg time under the same ownership. We have a few favorites that changed ownership and instead of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality, the new owners decided they could do better. It was the wrong choice.

Best Menu Item: Fresh Baked Turkey Sandwich
Price Range: $10-$15
Parking: Across the street in the city park lot
Comments: Don't forget to buy a loaf of Cheese Bread or Cinnamon Bread; they're to die for!

Food Type: Family Style Basque
Name: JT Bar & Grill
Best Menu Item: Lunch for best price, but dinner family style is excellent
Price Range: Lunch $10; Dinner $20
Parking: Behind the building
Comments: Great for authentic Basque food.

Caution: Don't get this bakery confused with the one in Mammoth in the Eastern Sierras. The one in the Eastern Sierras is owned by the ex-wife of the original in Bishop, CA, and IMO, not as good. We even saw flies buzzing around in the food cases! Again, JMHO.

When in Santa Fe Springs, CA, we stop by for lunch at Vera Cruz just off of the 605 freeway at Telegraph Road. It's a family style Mexican place that has really good food at very reasonable prices. The service is fantastic too! Best of all, it just next door to my favorite fishing tackle store, Sav-On Tackle!
We camped at Morro Bay RV Park once and asked the locals where the best place to have supper was. We meant best food, not glitz and glamour. The seafood restaurant right on the docks, literally just across the street from the RV park. The white wine crab meal was the best I've ever had, and I've had many crab meals from Long Beach, CA to Alaska!

Another great one in Corpus Christi
HiHo Mexican Restaurant!
Place has been around for decades and is a favorite of the locals. There are probably more celeberaties pictures and famous folks per sq ft than any other restaurant in the South!
Low price foods.
Parking is cramped, so don't bring the entire rig. No problem for TV though.

Wow, glad I happened through this post. We were driving along forty Laramie last Sunday. Our family will be camping up there soon. We were going to suggest going to the golden lantern. Guess that wouldn't be a good time now! We saw the old wooden shoe inn was still open. Thanks for the update.

I live in Southern Louisiana. It would be way easier to list the two places that aren't good here.
