Black waste tank

Does anyone know if it is safe to use RidX in the black waste tank? If it is what is a safe time limit to keep it in there?

flushing with plenty of water is always the best for holding tanks...we've never ever used anything other than a splash of dawn every now and then, down the toilet, just to add some 'slipperiness' to the tank, and driving a while, before dumping, to 'clean' the tank.

Many on here have reported using RidX with favorable results. If your situation makes you believe you need to use it, go for it.

The black tank is a HOLDING tank, not a SEPTIC tank. I would assume if you're like most of us, you dump it within 4-5 days. I wouldn't waste my $$ on RidX.

Yes, but why? Using more water per flush will fill your tank faster, but it ensures a more aggressive outflow when you dump.

The RidX will definately help out the campground's septic system...but not yours!

I use those TST orange pod thingies just to control the scent...

And occasionally will drop a pod of Commando and about 15 gallons of water down there before I roll to clean off the sensors.

You must be a city dweller. I had a septic for 35 years. Sounds like you don't know much about septic systems.

I came on here to ask a question not start a debate about septic tanks and black waste tank!

I just wanted to know if it was safe to use RidX or not! Last time I ask a question in these parts!

You have people in here that troll every topic and put their 2 cents in even if it no help or not! (rockfordroo)

Some people aren’t very friendly and were never told that if you have nothing good to say you should just keep it to yourself.
Sorry you had a bad experience. I hope you don’t let them chase you off.

Your question dealt with using a septic tank product in a holding tank. No, they are not the same, and yes, your question/statement was bound to to start the septic versus holding tank discussion/explanation, as it was clear you were not well informed in the area.

So another option for you is to research your question at least a little bit before you ask it, and then not get bent out of shape when you receive answers you don't like, or a discussion questioning your thinking.

Here are the instructions and warnings for RID-X. It clearly says safe for all tanks and pipes. And it works best if left in full tanks over a period of time for it to be able to break down wastes. Only you can decide if it's worth it to you.

I did the research, and this was not for septic tanks. It was for RV. Did not know if it was safe to use. They make cigarettes and they are not safe so not everything companies make is safe to use. Click image for larger version

I have 360 "thanks" for helping people on this forum.

You're the one who thinks septic tanks "just holds it longer." No one ever dumped a septic tank; although they should pump them every couple of years. As NMWildcat stated, RidX is for septic tanks, not holding tanks.

So I was trying to help you (and just as importantly, other people who may read your post and think you know what you're talking about) because holding tanks and septic tanks are NOT the same and DON'T "just hold it longer."

I'm sorry if you took it differently.

Personally, I am always ready to learn, although I do not always like being taught.

Well let’s see what the nay sayers have to say now, I’ll bet they won’t apologize.
I would say that you can use it safely.

So you had the answer before you even asked the question....***shaking head****

If you would of said 'ridx for rv', this thread would of gone in a whole different direction.

When I asked the same question a few years ago I was told that the black water wouldn't be in the tank long enough for it to do any good.
