Cold first trip

Took the 2400w MBS out for the first trip for 2018 to Spearhead Trail at Pennington Gap Virginia. We had nice sunny days but nights down in the 20's. We kept a 110vt ceramic heater on most all the time and at night ran the gas furnace as the heat pump could not handle the cold. It kept us very comfortable. Now that being said, I failed to leave the water dripping so, come Monday morning we were S O L !! Had to bring the hose in and thaw it out so the DW could get her hair just so. Nice campground and a good ATV trail for those who ride. The grandkids loved it. Bottom line,.....Lesson learned, don't forget to keep it dripping !

We just came back from camping in New Mexico skiing for 4 days. Angle fire RV resort required you to unhook from their water every night or pay $200 to fix the pipe if it froze and broke. I refilled my freshwater every day, so we would have water in the mornings.

Will electric heaters running, and the furnace set low, keep the tanks from freezing in this case ok? I'm guessing the plumbing in the actual trailer would be fine, but what about the bottom side stuff, does the furnace keep them good on nights when it drops below freezing but then is 40+ on days?

Just curious because we are picking ours up tomorrow, and would love to go out in next couple weeks, but nights are still dipping into the 20's at night yet.

I used the Artic heat pads on the tanks with no problem when I drained.

Mine doesn't have those, will I need them you think? I plan to add them, figured I would get them this summer and get them installed before fall comes.

If it's below freezing, I stay home.

Pennington Gap has built a 20+ full hookup campground at their Leeman Field Park. They are really getting a great place for people to return to Lee County and enjoy the area around Old Stoneface. We ATV the new Spearhead trail there with the family and ATV throughout the town for food and business. It's a great place for a weekend !! You can look it up via the town or trail on the net.
