Covering exterior of windows?

Noticed my window frames on the inside feel very hot when in direct sun, like little heaters. I was thinking a removable piece of window film over the whole window and frame would make a difference, maybe with Velcro? Anyone have any mods for this? Don't really want anything permanently attached.

We use a car sun shade cut to fit windows and held in place by the shades.
