Dead or Alive?

hmmm, a drawer full of AA's and more AAA's but which are good and which aren't. simple battery test...hold the battery by the positive end about 1 inch from a smooth flat surface and drop it. a charged battery might wobble but will stand on it's end. a battery needing charged or dead will fall wobble, bounce and fall over. works every time.

I didn't either - wonder if it works on other size batteries?

Cool but I think I will keep on using my Fluke because I went to the trouble to learn how to use it.

I think it has to do with how far they are dropped and how straight you drop them.
I thought I saw something about using a tube to drop them from.

This actually works. You can tell there is a different density between the good and bad batteries by how they sound when bounced.
Works with all brands too.

I just dropped a D-cell ten times it stood up every time, my Fluke says it is dead as a doornail.

So there must be some kind of girth factor, figures!

When they're dead, THROW THEM AWAY. That way you know that the ones in the drawer are good.

My crazy dh uses his tongue on the 9 volt to see if it is good. Gives him a tiny shock (about the level of dragging feet across a carpet and then touching someone). A strong battery shocks, a weak or dead battery doesn't. I still want to get DH's head examined.

And by the way my brain was not damaged if I refer to my career in worldwide assignments including Princeton, NY.

Both dead and good batteries fell or stood up. Maybe it was the formica?
