Dealer throw in

I haven't made an offer, or really talked price, on a camper that we are looking at, but the sales guy was telling me what they throw in: Battery, battery box, sewer hose. I was wondering are these standard and he's just making it look like they're doing me a favor by throwing these items in or are they actually good "throw in's"? What are some other items that are good to get the dealer to add before you buy?

Mine also filled both propane bottles and included a fresh water hose.

Ask them to pay for the 2nd year extended warranty ($150). Some have got it. It's worth a try. All the rest is pretty standard. You can't take the trailer off the lot without a battery for the brakes. I got them to do a dual battery setup.

I got a 50% price reduction on a generator, $500 gas card, battery, sewer hoses, filled propane tanks, and a carribean cruise, plus $6k off MRSP and $3k more on my trade than I payed for it. Bottom line is, there is lots of latitude with pricing and if they are only giving you sewer hoses and a battery, they would need to pony up a lot more for me to bite.

I got them to throw in an Equalizer 4-point hitch system, Rhino sewer hose kit and the outside screen covers for the frig, hw, and furnace openings.

Couldn't get them to bite on paying the note for the first year

That "throw-in" sewer hose that is thrown-in, sometimes as part of the "starter pack" is good for one thing only - being immediately "thrown-out !!!" They are made of such a flimsy material that they can be punctured easily on the first use. One of your first accessory investments should be a good quality sewer hose i.e a rhino hose or equivalent.

The battery and box are salesman BS. Every unit gets those. The sewer hose sometimes is thrown in but it's only a $30-$40 item. At the end of the day, you're really paying for those things anyway as the dealer isn't giving away anything free. If it were me, I would insist any unit you buy includes a good hitch like an Equal-i-zer or Blue Ox that has built in sway control. Do your homework and don't trust your dealer, especially, if you are a newbie. They are always out to make a quick buck and it is easier to do if this is your first RV/TT purchase. I'm on my 2nd unit and I already can see at least 5 ways my 1st dealer took advantage of me during the sales process. It's short-sighted to do that as they lost a customer for life.

Not from the salesman's perspective. His commission is based on getting the highest price he can for that camper and most don't last more than a year in any particular dealership in any case.

Imo if YOU NEED one thing thrown in it should be a digital volt ohm meter.
its not if you'll need it its when!

When we got our tt a few weeks ago they through in the 2nd year warranty, electric tongue jack, 6 weeks of camping split up between three different campgrounds, sewer hose, rv fresh water hose, 30a to 15a adaptor, battery, and filled propane tanks. This is stuff they included without us asking so we might of gotten more if we tried but we felt like we were getting a good deal and their customer service is excellent so we are happy with what we got.

[QUOTE=cyclepuck;196964]220 to 110 plug in adaptor, QUOTE]

You do mean a RV 30 amp plug to 15 amp plug adapter right?
Very few 220 volt campers out there (maybe none).

$7500.00 off MSRP, starter pack, toilet paper, PDI and delivery mo charge, 30 to 20 amp connector, 30 lbs propane (2) filled battery and box.
10% discount on products in store (like generators, ground rugs, hoses, etc...) as long as we own the RV. Their prices are pretty good too, similar to camping world.

I believe they told me T.P. a bottle of chemicals for the toliet, a sewer hose and a adapter like Herk was talking about. Seems pretty standard. That is what I got with the PUP when we bought that just no sewer hose as it was not needed

I purchased at the RV show in Halifax, NS. Even with that deal, I suspect you can still get it cheaper in the US.
