Deflapper poles for Dometic/A&E Electric awnings

Designed by Bob Caldwell, here are pictures of how mine are installed. I have now purchased another pair of the Camco Deflappers so I can put 2 on each end of the awning.

BTW, I think Bob did a great job. Thanks OCW!

How do you deploy/retract awning. You have to use a ladder to install each time? What does it look like when awning stored. Pics please. The geometry that I see, won't let me stow awning without removing pole with a ladder.

Maybe I just can't see it.

Thanks

The de-flapper pole stores just like the awning pole....just off to the side ..,I deploy awning, pull the roller down and tighten tilt adjustable knob, swing de-flapper pole up to roller, slide de-flapper on, slide pole onto outer stud, install de-flapper onto material, release tilt adjuster, and then lower awning pole.....very easy job

Ladder not needed....pole stays attached at top, and just slips onto stud at roller end.....deflapper hold the pole in place. Then after removing deflapper, pole swings down next to arm on trailer and stores there....no need to remove to store as they telescope together for length...

This could void your awning warranty. Much like adding a bike rack.

Same pole setup supplies a mounting point for end Sunshade! I only drilled 1 hole in vertical awning mount and used a longer bolt through the outer vertical pole mount, very quick and easy install! Youroo!!

GREAT WORK BY ALL !!!
But it's freaking amazing what has to be done to make these power awnings some thing worth having !!! Even if it is fun work !!!
If you are lucky enough to have an old manual awning,,, be very thankful !!!
Because what ever we do to these power awnings,,, they will never be as good as the old manual awning,,, for one thing they will never drop down as low !!!

You saying it would/could void your warranty! Neither the poles nor the deflappers alter the structure of the awning.
