Detailing tip, dark cabinets
Thought I'd pass along a quick tip:
On our new TT the maker used a slightly lighter shade of wood filler to cover the staple holes and stuff. It was OK, but, especially in the 'right light,' made the cabinets look like they had smudges. There were also a lot of other places where there was filler, besides the staple holes. My guess is some of these places were scratches or dings that needed the filler, and others were where the installers were just sloppy.
However, a quick wipe down (or three) with Old English Dark Wood Scratch Cover really cleaned it up well.
The difference isn't really visible in pictures, but I also used it at joints where two pieces came together. Note in the first picture that the finish was apparently applied before the wood was cut, leaving a raw end-grain that stands out. I soaked a rag with the Old English and wiped a bunch in the crack. Not perfect, but sure looks a lot better. Better in person than in the pic.
Beware, however, if you get this stuff too close to the wallpaper, it'll stain that, too. No, I'm not going to show pictures of that... Be careful.

If you have Dark Wood/Paper in a unit Old English should be a Standard issue for Nicks/Scratches! For small touchup we use a Q-Tip for application! Youroo!!

I've had a few issues with the cabinet trim swelling at the seams. A closer look at the cabinet fascia revealed that it's made of a wood center with a particle board laminate on each side and vinyl wood finish applied. I have had a piece replaced and need to darken the joint. Thanks, I'll give the dark oil a try. Hope it doesn't swell again.

I've had this bottle for a few years, but I'm pretty sure we got it at Walmart.

Which old English is everyone talking about? It appears they offer a few different options. A yellowish colored oil, two different scratch covers(also looks to be an oil in a bottle), and 2 different aerosol options?

I used the Old English dark scratch remover on my cherry wood and it worked great.

Did you just wipe the entire surface as though it were a polish?

I did, it did not change the color and where there were scratches or staple marks it covered them. You have to be very careful as it will stain anything you touch with the cloth you are using. Try it first in an area like inside your cabinets to make sure its going to do what you want.

And then there are those of us that have the dark almost black veneer, I use a dark brown sharpie to clean up Knicks and scratches. I challenge someone to find where I did it. Lol
