the problem is...
Most RV's are at the max width allowed (8'6"). Anything added to the side, even if it folds up, will put you over, and you would technically need a wide load permit.
And before you even think nobody will notice. The Missouri Highway Patrol is notorious around here for giving wide load ticket to pontoon boats owners. Most pontoons are 8'6" wide and the trailers pretty much fit entirely underneath them. If you add guide-on sticks or bunks, that will put you over 8'6" and they will pull you over with a quickness. I have guide-on sticks on mine, and I take them off if I ever have to tow on a public road.
It'd be really, really hard to do and keep you legal.
