Dometic 300 toilet trouble
Seems as though my Dometic 300 toilet has finally started the dreaded stink feast.
I remember when I purchased TT that alot of people were having trouble with the 300 having a defect and we're getting replaced with the 310 for free under warranty.
I didn't have the problem, so I did not pursue. (My problem was the Dometic 15k a/c.)
Now 4 yrs later, it stinks! So my question is, has anyone had trouble with the replacement 310?
Fixing to buy one and looking for reviews.
Thanks

When mine started the stink I had the seal changed. I was already going to the dealer to get the A/C changed out (warranty) and they said it only took a few minutes. Have not had a problem since. I would be willing to bet there is a YouTube video that would walk you through changing it yourself.

If it's just a seal on the ball, I can find that part. But if it's this problem , i have not been able to find any of the parts needed on the net.

Call Dometic with the model & serial number of your toilet. It is on a tag at the rear of the toilet by the floor. Your camera phone comes in handy here. I had mine replaced by the recall. By this time they were replacing them with "re-engineered" model 300 units. Had the replacement sent to the campground in Colorado I was going to. Took about 30 minutes to remove and install the new 300 toilet. Just 2 nuts mounting it to the floor and disconnecting the water line to it (turn water off first). New foam seal came with it. Have had no problems with new one.

Our camper is 5 years old and just began to smell in the bathroom. Along with the odor, the toilet no longer was able to hold water above the ball valve.
The fix was incredibly simple, a new rubber seal solved both issues. I think around $29.00 (WAY overpriced for a rubber gasket, I KNOW) but it popped right out, and the new one popped right in. BOTH problems solved in less than 5 minutes

this is a good excuse to upgrade to the 310.....the porcelain bowl is much better than the plastic, and it's an easy job. But as mention earlier call Dometic with the SN#....they may send you a 310 to replace it with.

The bowl is holding water, so I don't believe my odor is coming from tank. It get worse if we turn on fan.
I have had toilet off before, froze water valve. Totally my fault and easy to fix.
Will try to call Dometic Monday and see what they say.
Thanks

How long will it hold water? I had a like problem. Turns out that when using a wand to spay out the tank I bumped the ball and un-seated one of the two arms of the ball.
I was told to pour water in and give it 10 to 20 minutes to see if the water went past the seal. Sure enough the was was gone after a few minutes. Put on the rubber gloves, reached down and popped the second ball arm back into position. Solved my problem but not the one where I wanted the 320 model. lol...

This last trip, we were camping 10 days. Never had bowl not have water in it.
Smell was worse, after set up, then stopped after a couple days. Then we changed sites, smell came back. So I believe I have liquid between halves and movement of camper is sloshing it around. Starting the problem over again.
When I dumped black tank, I backwashed extra preparing for toilet removal. Was stinking again when we arrived home. Water still in bowl.

Had the same problem, had my 300 replaced with the remodeled 300 last year only to have the same issue again. Dometic will not warranty a warranty replacement so I bought a 310. What ever you decide which I recommend the 310, take the top half of your 300 off and you will see where the smell is coming from. The rubber seal between the two halves has moved and allowed sewage to collect in the pockets between the two halves.

The 310 is an awesome improvement over the 300. We went 3 years with the 300 and couldn't fix the smell no matter how much we cleaned. Discovered the defect issue on this forum. Had the 310 installed and no more smell!!

Cannot believe I have had such a hard time digging out this thread over the past 5 years and we camp 9 out of 12 months every year with the odor issue first rearing its UGLY head in Nov 2013.
Emailed picture from under the peddle & our new toilet is on the way!!!! May want to post some sort of notice on FRF to make the tag to these threads easier to find. Obviously I had looked for the wrong things for tooooo long

We also have the 300 toilet with odor issues. I emailed them Monday, gave them the serial number and they are sending me a new one.
Does anyone know how long it takes to receive the new toilet? Would like to have it next weekend for the next camping trip. Thanks!!

We did have a problem. The clue ws that the toilet was no longer holdding a small amount of water above the flush valve.
I replaced the rubber seal...............problem solved

Mine wasn't holding water and a new seal didn't fix it because the ball was deformed. The dealer installed a new toilet at no charge to me last fall. My TT is a 2014 so the warranty had expired long ago. I didn't know that there was a recall on them.

Stinky Toilet
Our Dometic 300 was 1 year old when it stunk badly. We contacted Dometic and they were wonderful about replacing it (They have a two year warranty). They had us provide the serial number and asked us if we wanted to upgrade to the 310 with a porcelain bowl and self closing lid. The upgrade was less than $100. We did not have to ship the old one back and the rep suggested we steal the water valves off of it. So happy.

My 2020 Forest River 22RR came equipped with the Dometic 300 toilet. I don't know how old the toilet actually is, since this same trailer was delivered with a 2016 (YES, 2016) Dometic fridge. About 2 months after buying the trailer, the toilet started to smell bad. Every trip, by about the 3rd day, we were overwhelmed by the smell. CW had no idea what the problem could be. I suspected the seal at the bottom of the toilet. However, after pulling the toilet, I noticed that there was liquid inside the toilet, but not in the bowl. It is obviously a failure of the seal between the 2 halves of the toilet. I'll be returning it tomorrow. Either my toilet is old, or Dometic hasn't fixed the seal problem. This manufacturing defect is still out there in "NEW" trailers. ...real bummer.

I guess the Dometic 300 toilet should be on the PDI list for buyers. If the RV has one demand it be upgraded to at least a 310. It is amazing that this problem has continued for over 7+ years.
This forum recommends changing China bombs as soon as possible. We should now say the same for the Model 300. Lot less expensive than 4 tires but almost necessary.
