Drinking Water Hose

When making connections with drinking water from faucet to RV, is there a way to sanitize the hose connections and run through the hose itself? When in the Navy, the ship's hospital corpsman was responsible to treat the potable water connection with a chemical (maybe a bleach mixture) to ensure no microbes got into the ship from hoses, connections, etc. Thanks for any advice!

Spray bottle with a 1-4 ratio of bleach and water.

Keep it fresh every trip as the bleach will break down and turn to salt.

X2, Before we went to a seasonal site, I would have my diluted bleach spray bottle in the trailer. I would spray the faucet / hose bib with the bleach and let it sit while I got all setup before hooking up my hose. You would be amazed that people actually use the hose bib to hang and rinse out their black tank hoses.

I carry a can of Lysol disinfectant spray and spray it when we arrive. It evaporates and dries quickly while I do the rest of the set up prior to connecting hose. 1 can easily lasts a couple years.

I run the facet for 20 seconds to flush out the sedimant and possibly bad water in the supply line.

I use a can of Lysol spray, too. I don't find it evaporates. I just spray the hose bib and rinse it off with running water then connect my hose.

I sanitize my hose at the start of the season and connect the two ends together when storing it to seal it between uses.

Thanks for all the tips! I would have never guessed anyone would be so negligent as to hang their black or gray water hose on a potable water bib! I'll be spraying everything in site as well as the obvious! 👀

Twice I have seen people rinse the sewer hose with their water hose. One stuffed his water hose at least 1/2 way down the sewer hose.

Thanks for that tidbit, I have had a nagging thought that the bleach in my spray bottle may have lost effectiveness.

Yes but if you also noticed they had on "Leather Gloves" that they use for "All Duties,Sewer and Fresh Water"! Then put the Gloves in the Same Area/Bin as the Water hoses! Youroo!!

I wipe faucet exit, handle, both hose ends, inside and out, and try RV inlet.I have also considered soaking the hose in bleach for a few hours, once a year, but haven't done it yet.
