Dura Faucet Single Lever Shower Fauct - Has anyone bought? Like?

Hello my fellow FRF Friends!



Today I wanted to check and see if any of you have installed this and if so can the faucet be rotated so the connector is at the bottom? I would think the hose hangs better that way?

Thoughts please!

I don't see why you couldn't. You might want to switch sides on the hot and cold lines coming in to keep the hot/cold adjustment in the normal position.

Yes single lever with output on the Bottom is the correct way to install,especially come "Winterize Time"! We also added a ball shutoff valve at the bottom outlet then attach the hose,that way you can reach down and turn off the Flow with one hand while holding the shower head! As said make sure the lines connect to the proper "H/C"! Youroo!!

I've had one installed for a couple years, way better than the stock one. Seems like I can adjust both temp and volume quicker. Just be aware of it's presence so you don't bump the handle when you shower and change the setting. I don't recall if I installed it with the vac break on top or bottom. I remember it was a tight fit on the supply lines

I installed one about 3 years ago, as shown in the picture, outlet to the top. Works great, no winter issues, gets cold here in northern Canada.

My current Montana came with the single lever. My previous 5er was a Cougar with the double knobs. I removed them and the box that stuck out few inches. I bought a piece of Starboard at my marina to cover the whole and installed a lever flush with the shower wall.

Okay - here is an update. I had e-mailed the mfg and this is there response. Have not gotten to talk with DH yet to see IF HE UNDERSTANDS all this?

"Dura Faucet would not recommend changing the direction of the faucet because with the water line pointing up helps prevent water back flow. Our diverters have an anti-siphoning valve in them, also our shower wands have a trickle switch (meaning in the off position a little amount of water will still trickle out), and there usually is a shower ring (DF-SA155) that should be used. Basically what “could” happen is if the sprayer is laying in the tub while in use with water in the tub there could be a siphon and “dirty” bath water could be siphoned into the clean water holding tank. If you have 1 of the 3 things above; anti-siphoning valve, water trickling out of the water, or shower ring creating a loop, water will not siphon into the clean water."

Thanks for the mention, we'd love to put a single handle faucet handle in our shower, especially because I consider the knobs, at least the cold, to be backwards; the should both be counter clock to turn on, clockwise to turn off. It's as if the faucet was intended to have levers, which make sense having opposing action.

I have replaced my shower valve with a thermostatically controlled one similar to those used in Europe and on most cruise ships. Set the temp once and that's it. Water temp stays the same as long as there is hot water. No waste fiddling around trying to adjust the temp.

Mine is similar to this one and worth every penny and the hour spent installing it.

That is VERY interesting. Did it match right up with the plumbing in the RV, or did you need to get creative at all? Any adaptors or anything needed? jeff64 made a good point about the chance to bump into the lever that I wouldn't have thought of, but would certainly do on the first shower. The faucet you show eliminates that chance and is pretty low profile and sleek looking, as well.

The key thing here is "Sprayer laying in a tub of water" Since my rv has a shower, not a tub that gets filled with water, this is a very unlikely occurrence. It could happen if the shower head is lying on the bottom of the shower and I've filled up the gray tank and water is backing up into the shower pan. If you always hang the shower head up, there's no way it'll be sitting in a puddle of water and possibly draw water back into the fresh water tank.

If this is really a concern, you could always install an anti-siphon fitting between the faucet and the hose.

I removed the existing cheapo valve, removed the access plate(the one the valve was attached to) and made a replacement plate out of 1/4" acrylic plate. I also added a piece of plywood behind the shower wall to reinforce the thin plastic. The one I got had fittings that allowed connection to NPT threads without a problem. Like I said, took about an hour. I'll happily send more detailed instructions if you like.

Thanks, I'd love pics if you have them. I followed your ebay link and I see what you're saying about the included adapters. I started looking at similar faucets on amazon but a lot of people were complaining about how they needed to search for adapters. I think what you're saying about the acrylic plate you made is that essentially eliminated the spacing as an issue and you just moved the flexible lines as necessary to meet the fittings. A few of the reviews I saw made it seem like they needed to add some kind nuts on the back side of the wall to sort of suck the faucet against the surface because I guess they normally rely on rigid pipework for structure, not attachment to the wall. Did you run into that issue?

I used 3/4" emt (electrical) nuts behind the plate to secure the valve. I used the adapters supplied that reduce the 3/4 FTP to 1/2 MPT for connection to the piping that are supplied. I also had to undercut the plate to recess the nut. Thread the nut onto the adapter, insert through the plate and tighten the valve nut to secure.

Got the Dura brushed nickel single-lever version and the finish started coming off within 6 months. It also was very hard to adjust hot/cold. Went back to two-handled faucet but added Oxygenics shower head. Happy now!
