Extended warranty

I have a 2018 Apex, next week is our 1st time out with it. But saw somewhere on here about extended Forest river warrenty. Got a call from a place in Missouri that offers a warrenty for $1996 for 5 years, is this legit? Thought it would be thru Forest River?

There are TONS of places that offer extended warranty.
The one through FR is for one year additional only.
All the others are not affiliated with FR.
Personally, I don't have one, but you need to look at your situation to decide if they are worth it

If your camper is listed as one that falls under the extended warranty offered by FR should cost about $150 and this to extend for an additional year. So now you have 2 years and all should be fixed by then if you have issues and for get about the big time expensive warranty. Later RJD

So should I contact Forest River? Not getting a good feeling about the place that called me, although my dealer must have gave them my info because they knew exactly what I had, looking at reviews, only 2, one good one bad? ?? But the good was on financing which we don't have with them.

If you didn't buy the extended warranty from FR, then this place is just trying to sell you something that may or may not be WORTHLESS.
Personally, I would just pitch it and enjoy my trailer.

Forest River is no longer offering the extended 2nd year warranty. They discontinues it earlier this year. Check 3rd party extended warranties very carefully as most of them have many restrictions /outs and are not worth it. Most times it is best to put money in bank and pay for expenses should they arise. You will get lots of responses for both sides. Ultimately it is up to you, if you do go that way. Read every word.

Thanks, little leary about this place, hoping there are no major issues and if so, will find out in the 1st year covered by FR, which is bumper to bumper

Yes,
Electricians call it "infant mortality", If something is going to fail it will fail quickly (first year)
After that it will probably last 10 years or more.
I have had 3 motor homes, 2 bumper pulls and our current 5th wheel.
I bought the extended warranty on two of them, never used it.
As stated above, I just stuck the money in the bank to cover something if it failed.

As Flybob said, FR no longer offers the 2nd year factory warranty, after June 1.
And your Apex wouldn't have qualified anyway since it's a Coachmen product.
Coachmen, Dynamax, Shasta, Viking and PrimeTime products were not eligible.

There are a number of threads here, discussing this recent change.

Thanks, I'm leaning towards just waiting and see what happens the 1st year under dealer warrenty We had our last camper for 11 years with no issues so hoping this one is the same!

Some of the appliances carry a 2 year manufacturer's warranty to begin with and most, if not all, extended warranty providers have to many exclusions which render them useless when a serious issue like structural, side wall delamination, hitch, axle, roof.... damage occurs.
Read the fine print in detail and compare.
My opinion.

I just got my warranty paper back signed from Forest River this week for my second year warranty. It said I only had 10 days from date of purchase to submit it which I didn't even read until after I had it for about a month and they still gave me the warranty.

I contacted forest river last week after picking up our new 2018 vibe. They did offer the 2nd year warranty and sent me the warranty form to fill out. The cost is $250

It is also being offered on the Riverstone but not on the Cedar Creek anymore, was told this by our dealer's service manager.

They must have different prices for different brands or models. My Wildcat 24RG was only $150.

That's what I was thinking. I've always read it was $150,so I was surprised when he said 250. I didn't even think about asking him about it when I had him on the phone. I was just glad they were still offering it after everybody was saying they no longer did.

The extended Warranty that is offered on the Vibe is $250. I have attached the Forest River Warranty pricing sheet and application for you to view the breakdown, and pricing, of the different models.

The 2nd year FR factory warranty varied in price, depending on brand and type of RV.
The range was from $100- $250.
