OK - now I know Diesel. So you are carrying about 750 lbs of diesel fuel. What kind og average range do you get with that much fuel?

When towing our 5er roughly 900 miles. Running empty but with a full load of fuel, roughly 1100 miles in the winter and roughly 1500 miles in the summer.

That is good - a full load of fuel would probably last some people all winter long.

Yes but hurts the wallet @ the pump. I added the tank because I run to northern Maine every weekend from mid December to mid April and I can buy fuel .45 to .50 a gallon cheaper there than here in Connecticut.

I would be careful with a 3/4 ton truck tho with the payload capacity and pin weight.
Just saying.

Just put yourself in the big rig drivers place when they fill up.

Nice to know there is another 8 gallons on "empty."

You have the same problem I have. "I believe"
Light comes on at 15-16 gallons?
Gauge shows half a tank at 8 gallons used?

Yes. I am not near my manual. Have not looked at it since new and just assumed that when the tank said "empty" it was.

With my elm-327 Bluetooth deal I'm able to see my fuel level in % .
When I fill up 100% my scanner says I'm only 78% full which means on the bottom end you have 25% left. Or 1/4 tank when gauge and light show empty.
We have identical trucks and I've filled up at 24 gallons once.
Talking with another forum member "works at a gm stealership" he says one leg of the fuel sender possibley broke and fuel sender is askew in the tank showing false readings.
They've seen it before.

Of course as the end consumer of the goods they are carrying, we are the ones who ultimately pay the fuel bill.

Diesel is now where as explosive as gasoline. I would not hesitate to carry an APPROVED 5 gallon can of diesel in the bed of my truck. Secure it right, from both tip over, and theft.
