Good point. I will try it on some of the other vents. Any particular brand of paint? Does it need slightly sanded and primered first? I would look at the vents. I look at everything

Paint the inside so it is not exposed to the elements, etc.

Plasti-dip is a spray paint like rubberized coating. Sprays on like paint but turns into a sheet of rubber or plastic. It can be peeled off. Apparently has insulating properties.

I bought at Home Depot for about $7. Sprayed the outside of skylight about 4 or 5 times. So far it's working great.

my bath skylight was totally clear.....and let in waaaayyyy too much heat and light in the summer....so i used the spray someone mentioned before for plastic tail lights..(VHT Nightshades).its designed for plastic and is a translucent coating....basically spray on tint....works well when you still want light in.....otherwise i would use a base of krylon for plastic in white or two, then a couple of coats of black.....i didnt want ALL the light blocked out.....just most of it...lol

Exactly, VHT Nightshades was the name of the spray and every additional coat makes it a shade darker but be careful with accidental overspray.
Same with Plasti Dip only that it can be peeled off later, the effects are dramatic (and it is relatively inexpensive). I even use it on tool handles to get a better grip, it feels kind of rubbery.

You really should cover all your vents (even though it sounds like the one in question has a rain sensor.) Camco makes a very reasonably priced one - just as good as the Maxxair IMO - here is a link to the cover on Amazon:
