Filters & A Cpl Other ?'s Concerning Trailer Water Systems

I've been doing some reading here about water filters that filter the incoming water to the trailer. My question is; do the popular Camco filters have a replaceable cartridge? If not what would be a good choice for a water filter for the trailer that uses a replaceable filter. As a note we typically take water with us to drink/cook with. Water in the holding tank is strictly for dishes/showering & toilet use

Seen a few posts about kits that "silence" the pump. What exactly do they do? Are they worth the cost?

Is a filter/strainer on the pump a good idea?

This is our 3rd trailer and I never realized how little we know about how some of the systems work & what mods we could safely perform to make our experience and our trailer that much better.

Many RVs have a built in filter with replaceable element. Note: There is NOTHING special
about the RV water filter. You can use almost any "whole house" cartridge in your filter.
These replacement cartridges can be bought at Home Depot, Lowes, Walmart or
any good hardware store. I usually spend about $10-12 for a 2 pack.
IF you don't have one in your RV do what I do. I bought a whole house filter housing
at Home Depot. I added brass garden hose fittings to both sides of that filter.
One side is male garden hose and the other side is female garden hose.
I screw the filter to the side of my trailer at the city water inlet. Then I attach my
hose to the campground spigot. That way all my water is filtered. I just use the
cartridges that say "activated carbon". These are good for removing sediment and
taste & odor from the water. I also use that same filter when I'm filling my fresh water
tank. I put the filter on a hose from the house or any drinkable spigot and run the
water thru the filter as I'm filling my fresh tank. We do drink the water out of the
tank that way. Have been doing that for 8 years over 3 trailers and never had
a problem.

My toy hauler a 25RR doesn't have a water filter & with the lack of storage space, don't really want to place one under the sink. Does the Camco one have a replaceable cartridge or is it a toss away?

The local Walmart has this one in stock
