Here is my solution to hauling Fishing rods. 1 1/4" PVC pipe and small bungees.

Nice! Where did you get the nylon pole covers, if you don't mind saying?

Sure enough, after our trip to Louisiana this last weekend, one let go. Told you I'd need longer staples...

I just ordered some of these: Du-Bro Screw-In Rod Holders : Cabela's
I want to hang them from the ceiling, needed something that had them up as high as possible, and keep them from falling down. They should do the trick!
I love all the ideas in here, whoever it was that posted where he used simple string and staples is genius! Talk about KISS! My main issue is that they stay put while driving down the road, I tend to go way off road, gets bumpy.

I have used simple PVC pipe for Vertical storage, just bring a couple poles to Home Depot with you and get whatever size it fits in. Drill a hole through, larger one on the outside to get the phillips bit in there and screw it in. You can also get the strapping and use those, they are cheap.

Guess I'm a little lazier than all of you. I just stand my fishing rods up in the outside compartment behind the pantry in our fifth wheel. The compartment has a nice, tall door opening, so getting the rods in and out is a breeze. And it keeps the fish smell out of both the living room and the basement (where our laundry chute is connected directly from the basement to the bedroom).

Explain to her that you will have enough rods when you have as many rods as she has shoes and bags. No, on second thought it may not be a good idea to say that. I thought that was a reasonable statement when I said it. Found out I was wrong.

This is what I installed in a service bay. It can actually store 12 rods (reverse direction for seven thru twelfth rod) if need be. The foam inserts are deep. $10 at Bass Pro. I have a mixture of bass and trout rods. Been using since 2000.

My dad asked me the same question once, so I took him into the garage and asked why he needed all those golf clubs in his bag.

Fishing rod storage

Try this. On my GT 364, I used bungee cords to strap down 6 pvc pipes (3.5" OD) above the propane tank. It gives me plenty of room, keeps poles from getting tangled with each other and prevents having rods and reels hanging down in the pass through. (Sorry, haven't figured out how to rotate picture yet)

I fish bass tournaments and the wife asked me why I need 20+ rods with me. Then she fished a couples tournament with me and watched me switch rods over and over, each with a different lure tied on, until I found the magic setup. Then it clicked. All the time I would have wasted tying on or possibly not have bothered tying on and didn't catch the fish if I didn't have a locker full of rods.

Now she emails me deals on tackle when she find them. Hell, while I was away fishing a BASS open she organized all my totes and boxes by lure, size and color.

Love my DW and fishing partner.

Currently I throw 4-6 rods in sleeves in the storage over our dinette. Reels are put in a Pelican case.

I have purchased or made Soooo many types of Rod holders.

The rope idea looks like a good one. Could be improved by using Screws with washers instead of staples. Also, maybe use 3/4" strapping.
