floor tile in the oven

I had read about the floor tile in the oven. I wish to try it out. My problem is my local HD does not carry "Unglazed floor tile". Will I have to find a floor tile store to do this or buy a pizza stone?

For less than $10, you can get a pizza stone at places like Target and Amazon.

We use a spare clay roofing tile, which works great

Unglazed tiles at Lowe's or Home Depot

We got four unglazed tiles at Lowe's or Home Depot individually. I take them out when we are on the road, as we have broken one on a bouncy road. (Infamous Pennsylvania, I believe.) A pizza stone would be fine, but, again, I'd remove it in transit. I also remove the microwave plate and sandwich it between towels in the linen closet. On our first tt we broke the plastic holder on the microwave plate driving on a road under construction on our first trip from the dealer's to our house.

Speaking of ovens, our 2019 Rockwood Ultralite 2606 has an electronic ignition for the oven as well as the stove top. Oh thank you thank you thank you Forest River for that! I cook and bake all the time (6 month full timers every winter to The South) and that crawling on the floor with the clicker got old fast. (Or maybe that was just me getting old, fast.)

I found a cast iron piece that is designed for use on a grill that is a good size, 10" x 10.5", for spreading out the heat in our Atwood RV oven. It made a world of difference in the quality of the food being baked. No more burned bottoms (we all know how bad burned bottoms can be).
It has a dual purpose like if we would need to cook over one of those nasty, rusty, permanent grills we could use this.

It also absorbs the heat to help maintain the temperature. Maybe I use a little less propane?

Only problem so far is remembering to take it out since it is a bit heavy and the first trip it bounced enough to open the oven door and ride the rest of the way on the floor. I think tiles or a pizza stone might not have survived in one piece.

It was around $20 at JCPenney.

I see it is on sale at Target for $17.99

Buy an oven stone. They are rated for use with food. Floor tiles are made mostly overseas nowadays. They could be putting anything in them since they aren't ment for food.

Glazed floor tiles carry elements like lead, mercury, boron and lots of other elements that can cause health problems. Unglazed floor tiles carry the same elements. Heat activates these elements to form something called "free radicals" which can be very harmful. The best thing to do is buy a good food quality baking tile or pizza stone. Please note that some people will say they use glazed tiles and floor tiles with no detrimental effect. That may be so... perhaps they also smoke cigarettes and cigars in their TT also??? I myself will stay with the food grade tiles.

I purchased a Pampered Chef pizza stone, which is rectangular and the perfect size. It broke due to the heat in the oven, but I just keep the pieces in there. I also have read to use an air pan cookie sheet. When I make sliders. I crumple aluminum foil and place the sliders on top of that. It keeps the bottoms from burning. I think I just need to try the air pan.

Same here. My problem is that my knees got old faster than the rest of me.

First I have heard of using one of these. Please can someone fill me in on the whole story about these?

Thanks, Gary.

Using a pizza stone or oven stone helps even out the heat in gas ovens and keeps baked goods from burning on the bottom. (or so I'm told. Don't have an oven in our rig.)

Never used the oven in my 5'ver, but in my previous 2013 TT used it once to make brownies for a potluck at a rally.

They were nice and gooeey chocolatey around the edges...and burnt to a crisp in the center!

Been gonna get a pizza stone for the oven...

But then where would I store my frying pans?
